SN experiencing performance issues

Hi all!

This is to report Sugar Network is experiencing peformance problems as it is very slow right now.

I'm aware of the back end upgrade that will be taking place in the following weeks, but still need help solving this permformance issues in the meanwhile.

I went ahead and "bounced" the service (/etc/init.d/sugar-network restart in jita).

Performance slowly degrades over time until it gets to a crawl.

Please help solving this issue. With disabling notifications, the system speeds up quite noticeably and doesn't crash.

Sugar Network client currently has over 5,000 users and has a great performance.

Nice :) Would it be possible to organize a irc meeting to explain how
the service work to the rest of the team? Maybe also add a short page to
the wiki listing the most common sysadmin procedures?

Don't misunderstand me: I'm glad you guys are taking care of this
service autonomously, and I don't intend to step on your toes in any way.

Hi,

1.

I did a little investigation on jita.

So far I've not found what the bottleneck is. CPU and RAM appear under control. Disk space is fine.

When I tail -f /srv/sugar-network/logs/sugar-network-node.log I can see a lot of traffic is going on.

Also from the stats alsroot setup for jita, http://jita.sugarlabs.org/node.sugarlabs.org/ , do note the 25,122,920 hits from "not viewed traffic", from the Sugar Network client.

I'll investigate a bit more and restart the service in a while to see if it fixes the performance issues.

2.

With regard to bernie's comment, IMHO, it would be good for platform team to involve infrastructure team once a service is in "production", it just didn't occur to me because I'm in both teams. I thank you for the offer of help! Where should we document the service?
