Spree, BITS - Pilani, Goa Campus’ Annual sports festival is a four-day extravaganza where the cream of the sporting talent from all over the country congregate to exhibit their prowess in numerous sports. From its humble beginnings in 2006 as an intercollege event, Spree has burgeoned into one of the country’s largest and most eagerly awaited Sports festivals.

International Carrom Players to visit during SPREE

BITS, Pilani - Goa Campus (BPGC) is organizing the Carrom Event duringSPREE '10 in collaboration with All India Carrom Federation (AICF), New Delhi. In this regard, 3 International Carrom Players along with the General Secretaryof AICF,  Mr. S.K. Sharma are going to visit BPGC from 3rd - 7th March, 2010. The three international players are all World Champions in the Carrom sport. Our campus will felicitate and honour these gems during the inaugural ceremony of SPREE '10.

The details of the players visiting during SPREE '10 are:

1.      Mr. A. Maria Irudayam

Achievements:

Arjuna Award Winner - 1995

6 International Gold Medals

• World Championship – 1991 and 1995
• SAARC Championship – 1998 and 1999
• French Open Championship – 1996
• Champion of Champions (International) – 1998

2.      Mr. Yogesh Pardeshi [ Currently at top in National Ranking of Men ]

Achievements:

5 International Gold Medals

•  World Championship – 2008
• SAARC Championship – 2002 and 2008
• World Cup – 2006
• World Cup (Swiss League) - 2006

3.      Ms. I. Ilavazhaki [ Currently at top in National Ranking of Women ]

Achievements:

5 International Gold Medals

• World Championship – 2008 
• World Cup – 2006
• Asian Championship – 2005
• SAARC Championship – 2005 and 2008 
  

Mr. S. K. Sharma will be leading the AICF Troupe during SPREE '10. Mr. Sharma is also the Secretary General of International Carrom Federation (ICF).

• The National Sports Festival of BPGC brings to you a chance to witness their prowess in Carrom by organizing a series of Exhibition Matches on all three days.
• An opportunity to play a game against these international player on a pre-registration basis. People who reach finals will get a chance to play against the international players without any registration.
• Carrom workshop by these player - a chance to interact and learn the tricks an intricacies the game. People registering for the workshop will get exclusive Carrom strikers and/or Carrom coin set prescribed by AICF.

  
  

  
  

  C-Pool

  Apart from the Main Event there is this c pool event in the Spree Specials.

  
  

  This might not quite involve knocking colorful balls around using a long stick, but this carrom event comes close. Standard carrom rules apply, but you must play from where the striker is. All about placement, this game requires a keen eye for angles and speed.

  
  

  There will be 4 Categories under which the Carrom Event will be held viz. – Boys’ Singles, Boys’ Doubles, Girls’ Singles and Girls’ Doubles.
