to Sudbury Community Gardeners
The Foodshed Project and Farm Yard Sales are offering a unique
internship program this summer. The program is being aimed towards
youth (18-30) who have always wanted to learn to garden and would love
the farm experience. Our Farm Yard Gardens Internship will provide the
intern with a rural experience right within the City of Greater
Sudbury city limits. We are interested in candidates who can commit to
the whole growing season, from seed to table. Training provided. They
will learn how to amend the soil, start seedlings, and maintain a
vegetable garden. Best of all, they will get to keep and eat what
they grow. Though this is an unpaid position, the interns will be
required to participate on a regular basis and put in from 6 hours per
week to 12 hours during the busy times. We are completely organic,
from the soil building to managing weeds, pests, and planting regimes.
This is a once-in-a-lifetime opprotunity for the intern, and will
teach them to be responsible for the earth that we all share. Our
ideal candidate will be a team player, and an individual who is
interested in learning about the connection between food, health and
the environment. Gardening equipment and seeds will be provided.

Some of the requirements are:
- between 18 and 30 years old
- own transportation required
(farm is 20min walk from nearest bus stop in South End of Sudbury)
- a commitment of between 6 to 12 hours per week for the full growing
season
- interest in environmental issues
- experience in gardening an asset
- references and police check required (paid for)

Please note that this is a competitive interview process with a limit
of 10 candidates. Not all applicants will be chosen. The application
deadline is April 22, 2009. Please email cover letter and resume to
yo...@foodshedproject.ca

Please pass on the word guys and gals,
thanks,
Nick
