Hello All,
Today's Times of India carried an article on adoption, and the procedure as per the 01 Aug 2015 guidelines.
The statements in the article match the process as explained by Malathy of Mataruchaya, when we had the PAP session on 27 Sep.
Unfortunately, there is no role of Sudatta is this case, and all we can do is explain the procedures to the PAP who get in touch with us.
- I endorse the journalist's concern that PAPs in rural & upcountry locations or those who are not net-savvy will have disadvantages.
- Delay in seeing the dashboard, intimating the PAP of a child being identified, and the 48 hour timeout is a major flaw in this new process.
- Validity of the photo of the child - which, apparently is that which is taken when the child comes into foster care - versus that of the baby at the time of the intimation to PAP is another shortcoming.
The other stray anecdotes of special needs of child available for adoption not intimated and child reserved for PAP already given for adoption by OCI (NRI) are unfortunate and need not be the rule - rather they are exceptions, however traumatic the experience of the concerned PAPs may be.
