Corporate accountability on the rise: Lafarge S.A. convicted of financing terrorism

On April 13, 2026, a French trial convicted four former executives of cement maker Lafarge to prison sentences for financing terrorism in Syria. The company is also under investigation for complicity in crimes against humanity and the door to an indictment is now wide open. The case strongly suggests that the Lundin case does not exist in isolation but that it heralds and end to corporate impunity for international crimes.
