Possible to disable Lucene search engine?

I've been picking through the code and can't figure out how to disable the Lucene search engine. I don't want to use it and rather leverage Bing for my search functionality. Had a few issues where I'm getting EOF errors showing up due to Lucene. After purging all non *.mdf files from App_Data, it resolved the issue so I'd like to kill it in my deployment.
