Hello:
Just installed Subsurface 4.8.1 on my laptop running Windows 10.
I am able to import divelogs.sde, Reefnet Sensus Pro and Sensus Ultra data with no issues.
When I tried the same connection procedure as used with the Reefnet products, I get  error messages respectively:

unable to open Com5 Suunto (D6)

unable to open Com5 Suunto (Zoop Novo)

The COM port/device is correct and working properly based on windows diagnostics run in the device manager app

I am able to execute data transfer from the D6 to the DM5 dive manager with no issues; however, the Zoop Novo (has no PC set option) does not work with the DM5.

I was optimistic the Subsurface would be the answer and I am still hopeful, once others chime in with suggestions that I may have overlooked or not realized.
Thanks
Peter

Are you sure DM5 is not blocking our access to the com port? The download should work for these dive computers...

Can you run Subsurface from command line with option -v and send us the output. Also enable the subsurface log file from download dialog and attach that log as well. This should hopefully give some idea what is wrong.

Hello,

something is preventing us from accessing the COM port
---8<---
INFO: Open: name=COM5
ERROR: Access is denied (5) [in /home/travis/build/Subsurface-divelog/subsurface/libdivecomputer/src/serial_win32.c:294 (dc_serial_open)]
---8<---

If COM5 is the correct one (as you say it is), then my guess is that either DM5 or some modem manager has the port open and prevents us from accessing it. Closing such applications might help. (Or the old Windows trick of reboot.)

Miika:
I have looked into all your suggestions and they did not resolve my download issues.
I started fresh by installing Subsurface on a different PC using Windows 10 and i get the same error messages.
I have turned of the antivirus (McAfee) Firewall and looked at the registry where everything appears in order.
I installed the app as an Administrator in hopes that this will give e more clues as to failure:
Here is the subsurface.log that seems to give more details.

Thanks,
Peter

Now we are at least able to access the com port. However, I don’t see proper communication going on. Does the DC switch to download mode? Or do you have to do it manually ?

Miika:
You asked:
Does the DC switch to download mode? Or do you have to do it manually ?
Answer: it switches automatically, takes a few seconds before the error message appears. All subsequent attempts in that same session produces a red banner at the bottom of the page that says "unsupported function."
Just recently, in the thread started by Ketts466 about the Cressi Leonardo, he seem to encounter the Com Port 3 issue while using Windows 10.
So is this a windows 10 issue not being completely compatible with Subsurface as far as communication?
My own small sample of 2 machines running Win 10 produce these com port 3 errors, and the ketts466 thread shows the com port 3 issue, all be it from a different dive computer than my Suuntos
