We recently purchased two of the Wisdom 5.  Will there be updates to Subsurface for these computers soon?

Not sure when this will happen - the Wisdom 5 seems to be barely on the market yet, and the app it is designed to use doesn't support any models that are supported in libdivecomputer yet.

I've noticed that Subsurface -divelog supports the Wisdom 4.  Is there a significant difference between the two?

Based on the fact that the Wisdom 4 natively talks to a completely different logging application (Diverlog+) than the Wisdom 5 (DiveSync), I suspect that they are actually designed and built by different manufacturers as Sherwood branded products. And likely they will be using the protocols defined by their manufacturer.

Thank you very much for the info.  Was there any issues with the Wisdom 4?  Wasn't out very long before the Wisdom 5?  There were years between the 3 and 4.

Not that I know - but I am only repeating what I can find on the internet. Diverlog+ these days is branded and distributed by Oceanic (while the dive computers are made by a third party manufacturer). So maybe Sherwood did not want to have to rely on software branded by a competitor of theirs.

To add support for a new dive computer, someone with access to the dive computer
has to provide us the necessary data.

Usually the protocol doesn't change, so the easiest and first option to simply
try to download data from your dive computer with the most likely existing
model. In your case that will be the Wisdom 4. Enable both the "Save
libdivecomputer logfile" and "Save libdivecomputer dumpfile" checkboxes, and
when finished send me both files. The memory dump file will only exist if the
download succeeded, so it's fine if it isn't present at this point.
