Hi there !

I'm trying to download my dives from my SUUNTO D4i on Android Subsurface 2.0 4.6.4.966. I have a Huawei P9 with Android 7, un-rooted.
I successfully download the dives from Suunto to Windows Subsurface.
On my mobile I set vendor SUUNTO and computer D4i,  I connect on USB  with the OTG cable and choose FTDI in the select. Pressing Download will instantly give me  a Retry button. At its right there is the Quit button and then a label telling that Bluetooth is not enabled, which is true since I don 't use it anyway. Pressed Retry couple of times but no luck.  I enabled the BT just in case hangs there for some reason, but still using FTDI. No luck either.
I know the computer is connected since It enters in transfer mode and also my phone will offer to automatically launch an application when this device is connected on USB,  that I choose to be Subsurface. So to speak when I connect the dive computer , the subsurface is automatically started.
I also know the computer is communicated to some extent since I tried with an unregistered version of DiveMate and it lists the dives.
Any idea?

Thanx!
Sorin

A fair number of Android phones will not support OTG downloads at all because they prevent us from opening the port.
Can you enter Settings, enable "Dive computer - save detailed log" (near the bottom) try to download again and send us the subsurface.log and libdivecomputer.log files in the root of the local storage on your Android device? Hopefully this will tell us more.

Hi, Dirk.

the logs shows that the serial cannot be opened. See attached. Can't this be some sort of permissions ? I'm asking this because I successfully copy files over USB OTG from USB stick, but could be that I copy them in another folder. I checked the Subsurface app permissions  and it has access  on on storage and gps.
Thanx.

It could be an Android 7 issue tho. I tried with a mortorola moto same Android 7 and behavior and log files are similar.

Hi Sorin,

I think in this case it has nothing to do with OTG , your android version or your phone.
To see if the above statemant is correct or false please try to install Divemate and see if you can import your data.,
I had a similair case and it solved the problem.

Please keep me imformed.

Rgds.

Hi, Don. Thank you for your answer. I will not be able to confirm since I changed my phone meantime. I can confirm it works on Samsung S8 with Android 8 though, so probablly not an Android version issue. Thanx. Sorin
