What is actually the best way to install Subsurface running OpenSuse Tumbleweed?

We have given up on creating binaries for opensuse as there appeared to be no users and the build system makes it very frustrating to try to maintain packages for opensuse.
You could run the AppImage, or build from source (as someone running their bleeding edge distro, I assume that's something you'd be comfortable with)
