I have done my best to research this around the web and through all of the Subsurface documentation in order to avoid asking you all a simple question.

I am unable to register for an account to use cloud transfer/storage between devices despite having used Subsurface desktop offline for awhile now. I'm taking a class over the holiday and the instructor has asked for my logs to be present (I haven't had such a request in over a decade from any dive shop or instructor, but I am happy to share them). However, I don't want to haul my computer all over the Yucatan.

When I try to access it from the application it just takes me to the login screen (cant login without an account), when I try to access it from mobile the website loads, but will not accept any input whatsoever. I've tried hand typing in the web addresses listed in the manual but they all default to the existing users login page and not the "register" page. I've even tried the password request option in the off chance that I signed up long ago and didn't remember.

What am I doing wrong? Has cloud account signup been discontinued?

Thanks in advance!

-Will

I think there must be dozens of posts like this on this forum.
And they all get the same answer.

Use an email account to create an account. Preferably not a gmail account because Google absolutely hates free services that it cannot get a cut from, but even gmail works. Use that email and set a password, click register / login. That works both in the desktop and mobile app.

However, you CANNOT create an account from the website - there's no point to that... the account is for Subsurface cloud storage, not for a web thingy, so you create it from one of our apps.

You'll get an email with a PIN code within minutes. Your email provider will do a lot of work to hide that email from you. Especially Google, see above.
The email will be from subsu...@subsurface-divelog.com (notice the .com at the end). Search for it. Most people can find it. If you cannon, send an email FROM the email address that you used to create the account to me (di...@subsurface-divelog.org) and ask me to resend the PIN

Then you enter the PIN and forget about it in the future, because now your account is enabled.

Hey Dirk, Thanks for the quick response, but the issue is that I cannot use an email of any kind to create the account. All of the register links either go straight to a login page for existing users on PC or will not let me submit the registration on my ipad or iphone. After I put my email and password in, clicking the "sign-in or register" button doesn't do anything. It just blinks to acknowledge its been clicked.

I am sure I am missing something simple.

Trying to parse what you are writing here...

"All of the register links" -- there's no such thing as a register link for the Subsurface Cloud

There are just the preferences on either Subsurface or Subsurface-mobile. And those have two modes - either the email address has already been used, then it will reject an incorrect password, or the email is new, then it will accept any password (and set that as your password) and subsequently show a field to enter the PIN.

So if you are at the point where there's a PIN entry field, reach out to me and I help you past that. If you don't get to that and get an incorrect password error instead, also reach out (again FROM that email address) and I'll delete the existing account.
