Hi
Been happily using the mobile app, from Google Play Store for a good few years. But since the recent update on the Play Store things aren't going so well.

Firstly, the theme spacing is all wrong, so elements are getting laid over each other. I get a warning telling me the font may be too big for the screen (it was set to regular). If I set it to very small the collisions aren't so bad, although not entirely cured. But I really struggle to read it so small :(

Second problem is the scrolling through the dive list is really choppy.

These are both cosmetic, but the biggest problem is that Subsurface fails to communicate with a Suunto Eon Core. I've tried toggling BT, forgetting and repairing in BT, making sure the Suunto app is happy to connect, forgetting all dive computers in SS. On my OnePlus Nord 2T 5G I did eventually manage to get SS to recognise and download dives, but it seemed a faff. But running through the same process several times on my wife's Nord 2T 5G has brought no success. It's stubbornly refusing to connect, saying there is an input / output error.

Any suggestions? Is it possible to roll back to an earlier version?

Thanks

Maybe if you told us what phone / Android version you are trying to run
Subsurface on we might be able to help you a bit better.

But you can find more than a year of old versions on
https://github.com/subsurface/nightly-builds/releases - and there are
instructions on how to sideload these versions on Android in the release
notes.

OnePlus Nord 2T 5G, Android 14
OnePlus Nord CE 5G, Android 13 (sorry, looks like I put this as 2T in the original message)

Eventually got a connection to Eon Core on the 2T 5G, but no luck with the CE 5G

Any hint as to which was the last release on the Play Store before April?

OnePlus has for many years had completely broken fonts with broken font metrics.
We actually bundled a font to use on OnePlus devices for a long time. I wonder if that somehow got lost in the latest updates.

I have an older OnePlus device here and tested the current build on it and it works, but maybe they found a new way to screw things up.
That is one of the downsides of the Android environment. A lot of freedom for phone vendors to break things in creative ways.

The last playstore version before the upgrade this month was more than three years old.
Not a useful thing to get back to.
I'd be interested in seeing full start up logs as well as a screenshot of the theme test page.

Open Subsurface-mobile and create a support request from within the app (under help). That should include the right logs (assuming OnePlus didn't manage to break that as well).

Hi Chris

Thanks for sending the log and the screenshot. I can see a couple of things that are going wrong.
The one that's bothering the most is that Subsurface-mobile is starting up in the Download screen before switching back to the main screen.
And I think that this has something to do with why you are getting too big of a font selected.

I'm trying to figure out why we are starting on the download screen. Is there something connected to the USB connector that's triggering it to open Subsurface-mobile?
I think it may have something to do with the fact that your phone is paired with the EON Core. Not sure. It doesn't show up as paired for me...

Basically your phone convinces the app that it has 540 pixels horizontally and makes it pick its font size based on that, and then switches to 360 pixels. Which gets us a font that's out of scale.

However, I'm surprised why setting it to font small wouldn't work. You may have to change the setting, exit the app and re-start it for that to look proportional, but it should in theory work.

Hi there

Just to confirm that I have also the same issues since the last major update with almost the same devices (OnePlus 8T and Suunto Eon Core) :
- no BT connectivity with the computer
- weird display

I can of ourse share any logs if relevant, just tell me where I can find them.

It occured between the 5th and the 24th of April, so maybe can I try some kind of rollback if I can identified the different app versions.

Eric
