Hello there , is the Suunto Nautic supported by Subsurface? Currently own an Eon Core which works pretty well with Subsurface . I'm thinking of upgrading to a Nautic. Many Thanks and Best

There won't be support comparable to the Eon Core support. Suunto simply prevents that. I don't recommend buying their dive computers, frankly.

Using the desktop app you can import the Nautic JSON files that you can export from the Suunto app - but that seems rather pointless. If you need to use their app to download the data, then why bother with Subsurface? If you want to use Subsurface, then why bother with a dive computer manufacturer who is actively hostile to supporting 3rd party dive logs. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Dear all,

There is a separate discussion ongoing with Jasper and Michael and as far as I understand, they are working on this integration. It is my understanding that the integration will not be as straight forward as for the EON Core but this does not mean there will be no integration.

Even right now, the Nautic can be connected to Subsurface using the .fit file that can be created from the App. And „yes“ there is data missing in this file, but it is my understanding that this is caused by Suunto. This is also one reason why Michael and Jasper seem to be working on the json file integration which contains these data.

For me personally the use of json/fit files would be an option - not the perfect solution but an acceptable one. I think this is something that each end user can decide

In my case I am using a Nautic(and I am really happy with it) and a Garmin computer and Subsurface is the place where I can merge both.
 Maybe this helps

Many thanks to Dirk and Dietmar for your replies.

I can understand why Suunto may be reluctant to release their proprietary code. That said, I think their latest iOS app update has been a bit of a disaster. I've been in touch with them for quite a while now asking for two things:

A) Stop treating dives as if they were fitness activities.

B) Include all of the dive information in the app. At the moment, data such as SAC rate—which I always like to analyse after a dive—is nowhere to be found. It is clearly visible on the computer itself, so it's frustrating that this information has disappeared from the app.

Despite all that, I still really like the EON Core. However, I need a brighter screen and larger, easier-to-read numbers, so the Nautic seems like the natural successor for me.

Thanks again to everyone for your replies and helpful input. I really appreciate it.

All the best,
Miguel
