Hello,

I routinely upload my dives to my phone using the android app. Nevertheless, the version for Windows shows the message "Cannot sync with cloud server, working with offline copy". I have logged in and out, checked for any missed updates, temporarily disabled the firewalls in my computer, to no avail. Any advice or suggestions?

Thank you in advance

Antonis

Nine out of ten cases this is incorrect credentials. Very rarely it's a damaged repo.

Can you try to sync and then share the log file in C:\\Users\\Home\\AppData\\Roaming\\Subsurface ?

Thanks for the fast answer! 🙏 What are the steps for this procedure? As I said, the desktop version canot sync. Also, I can't find in my hard drive that path and file location.

Try this path, that will find your username

C:\Users\%userprofile%\AppData\Roaming\Subsurface

Thanks, but unfortunately I cannot find such a path. I attach a screenshot. The translation of the top bar is " This computer > Local Disk (C:) > Users". The two folders shown in the screen are "User" and "Shared Files". Should I search somewhere else (maybe in the Subsurface folder)?

Ahh, thank you Microsoft for making everything more frustrating.

Under C:\Users there should be a directory that is associated with your username.
Below that there's a directory named AppData (I think in all languages) -- but because Microsoft, that directory is often not shown when listed, so you need to type it in the navigation bar.
So go to your home directory (C:\Users\<whatever is used as your username>) and manually add \AppData\Roaming\Subsurface to the navigation bar and hit enter.

You should then see the log files

As I said five emails ago.
Start Subsurface
Try and sync with the cloud.
Exit Subsurface (that's important - Windows doesn't immediately finish writing the log files otherwise)
And then send me the two log files in your screenshot

And we go back to my very first response here:

INFO: git storage: authentication to cloud storage failed
ERROR: Authentication to cloud storage failed.
ERROR: Cannot sync with cloud server, working with offline copy
INFO: git storage: remote fetch failed (authentication failed)

If I say 9 out of 10 times it's incorrect credentials and to please verify your credentials... I don't say this because I'm bored or stupid.
I say this because we always get to this point and we could have been there after my first response.
Check your email address and password.
You can do this by logging in to https://cloud.subsurface-divelog.org
If you don't know the correct password, there are instructions how to reset it.

Ok, thank you!😀 It seems that along the way I missed some really important info or update, because I was using that kind of app on my pc:

A last question. I see that I logged successfully to Subsurface, but the windows app still shows the same error message (see last screenshot)
 Is there anything I missed?

Ok, I followed all the steps, but the app still does not sync with the cloud, although I found all my dives in the subsurface- divelog.org site. Is there something else I must do, in order to see my dives in the windows app?

In your Windows app. In preferences. Select cloud. What does it say on top of the dialog? Send a screenshot of that.

That is not what the log file says. Have you made any changes since you sent the logfiles?

So let's try this again.
Start Subsurface. Manually trigger a sync with the cloud (so you see the error on screen)
Quit Subsurface
send me the log files

Both the log you submitted and my backend server logs confirm... you are trying to authenticate with the wrong password.

I would suggest doing a password reset, setting a different password and updating this in the settings.
