I'm using the following:
Thinkpad X1 Extreme (gen 1)
Linux Mint 20.2
Subsurface 5.0.10 as a Flatpak
In Subsurface I go to Import -> Import from dive computer, select Cochran EMC-16 and /dev/tty/USB0 (which is correct as when I disconnect the download cable and restart Subsurface this entry is missing from the "Device or mount point" drop-down list, AND by running $ ls /dev/ttyUSB* in terminal with the cable plugged in and unplugged; /dev/ttyUSB0 is the only thing that shows up), click the "Download" button, and get the following error: "Unable to open /dev/ttyUSB0 Cochran (EMC-16)"
I should note that Cochran Analyst Pro running via Wine on the same laptop, as well as the same Analyst running on bare metal on a Thinkpad T60p return the following error: "ErrorOut Could not Initiate the USB module. Check the connections from your PC to the USB module and the Dive Computer. If the connections are good, unplug the USB cable for a few seconds and then plug it back in to get your PC Operating System to recognize the module."
Am I missing some kind of USB driver on the Linux Mint side?
