I usually log all my dives on my Mac and keep the file in cloud storage. I also view the log on my mobile from time to time. For some reason, my mobile stopped showing any dives dated after 30 November 2024. I reinstalled the app and even tried another Android phone, but both devices only displayed dives up to that date. My Mac, however, showed everything normally.

I never figured out the root cause, but today I opened the log directly from cloud storage on my Mac and now the same issue has appeared there too. I’m missing around 50 dives logged since last November.

Does anyone know what might cause this, and whether there’s any chance of recovering the missing dives? I still have the dive data files on my computer, but I no longer remember the details like dive sites and buddies.

Thanks in advance :)

I’m guessing quite a lot here but on your Mac it sounds to me like you were saving to a local file rather than to the cloud, see if you can find this local file, if you go into the Subsirface preferences then this might give you a clue where it is, I think it’s usually an .ssrf file type or something like that.

Once you have this local file open then you can save that to the cloud and then change your Subsurface preferences so that the Mac opens this by default in the future.

Thanks for your reply Jason.

Unfortunately there are no .ssrf files anywhere on my Mac. I'm quite certain I was saving to the cloud storage - I checked all that when I noticed the mobile sync issue.

The last time I opened subsurface on my Mac, I had to re-enter my cloud credentials for some reason, whereas previously they were always saved in the preferences. After doing this, the Mac app showed the same dives as on my phone.

Cheers, Joe.

Send email to me FROM the email address that you use for cloud storage and I can check if those dives were ever in the cloud.
The more you can tell me about the missing dives (dive numbers, rough dates, how many are missing) the easier it is.
