Hi all,
First, thank you for a great app and for all the hard work keeping it up to date.
I recently switched to Subsurface after using MacDive for many years. I find Subsurface very easy to use, and it covers all my essential needs as a dive logging application. However, there are a few features from MacDive that I’m starting to miss and would love to see implemented in Subsurface—unless they already exist and I simply haven’t found them yet.
Equipment overview
Currently, equipment management seems limited to a basic tagging function. It would be a great enhancement to have a more advanced equipment tab that allows users to:
Track specific pieces of equipment (e.g., regulator, BCD, wetsuit)
Record maintenance history, weight, thermal rating (cold/warm water suitability), and spare part sources
Create equipment groups or kits to simplify logging dives
Dive site overview
At the moment, the dive site overview appears to be tied to individual dives. For planning purposes, it would be useful to access a dedicated dive site overview independently. With the right information (e.g., historical dive data, weather conditions, visibility, currents), this could become a powerful tool for forecasting and planning future dives.
If anyone sees value in these improvements and has the necessary skills and access, I would be happy to help design a model or architecture for such features to benefit this great community.
Thanks again for developing such an excellent tool.
Best regard
