Subsurface Divelog has started to tell me it is "Unable to open Suunto (Cobra)" or "...Suunto (Vyper Air)". This problem occurs on both my Lenovo Windows 10 & HP Windows 11 laptops. The app version is "6.0.5054-CICD-release" on both machines, but clicking on "Help/check for updates" shows the message ""There is a newer release 6.0.5504 available...".

I have been using it successfully with these two dive computers for over twenty years, so why has does it no longer recognise them? Both devices are still shown in the list of compatible dive computers.

This version of Subsurface is multiple years old - you should update to
the latest version from https://subsurface-divelog.org/current-release/
and then try again.

Thank you for your response.

Using the link in your message, I have downloaded and installed "6.0.5504-CICD-release" for Windows  onto both my HP Windows 11 and Lenovo Windows 10 laptop, but the result is the same on both machines, ie when I open Subsurface, connect my Cobra in "TR - PC" mode, and click "Import/import from dive computer/Suunto - Cobra/download", the error message  "Unable to open Suunto (Cobra)" pops up. The same thing happens when trying to import from my Suunto Vyper Air.

The last time I was able to download from either dive computer in February 2024.

I'd be grateful for any further suggestions about how this error can be fixed.

John

In the download dialog, enable the "Save libdivecomputer logfile" checkbox, try
to download and send this log. Without this debug information we have absolutely
no idea what went wrong. It could be a problem related to a (missing) driver,
wrong serial port, no permission to open the serial port, the communication with
the dive computer, etc.
