First, thank you for outstanding Linux and Android programs to support diving! Android question - is there a way to combine dives, add multiple tanks, or specify distribution of dive weights? I downloaded my sidemount dives from my Suunto Eon Core to my Android this weekend. I don't have AI pods on my sidemount regs, so have to add the tank pressures manually. However, I couldn't fine a way to do that or either of the other aforementioned log activities. I was able to do them on my Linux box when I got home.

If the Android app cannot combine dives, accept manually added multiple tanks, or specify dive weight locations, would you consider adding this capability?

Thank you for your time!

Hi Bob,

The mobile UI is a bit of a step child. We don't have enough (read: any) developers who are really good with mobile UIs. So the people who hack on this most of the time (read: me) tend to struggle with creating a good user experience. And any added complexity is usually adding more bugs and more problems and so it's really hard to get me motivated to do something like that.

So the current setup is geared very much at the typical recreational diver. One tank, one weight system, done. Which, btw, how all of my last 300 dives have been... my lest multi tank, multi weight dive was a while ago :)

So yes, this could be done. Yes, if someone else did the work and sent me the patch, I'd take it in a heartbeat. But I'm not sure if I'll find the energy and motivation to work on this myself any time soon...

I know, that's not what you wanted to hear, but that's the current situation.

That said, would you send me a couple of those dives that you have edited on your Linux box so that they look the way you want them to look? Just so I know what specifically you'd want to do and what it would take to make that happen? Just in case I decide "oh, that wouldn't be too hard" :)

/D

Hi Dirk,

Copy all. I certainly appreciate the Android app as is, since I only dive multi-tank maybe six or eight dives a year. But, just in case you develop a thirst to tackle this challenge, how do I send you specific dives along with possible implementation approaches?

You can export the dives as Subsurface XML and send them to my email (dirk at hohndel.org)

Will do. The dives are already merged. Does that make a difference?
