Hi,
I just purchased a Suunto D4i with a USB (on eBay). When I tried to import my first 2 dives on the computer to Subsurface (the latest version), the dialog box gets stuck at "connecting ...". The dialog box defaulted to COM4. COM5 and COM7 didn't work either COM3, which worked fine for my Vyper Air, won't even begin connecting and isn't even an option. The face of the computer displays "Data Transfer".

I was able to successfully commect and load the dives into Suunto DM5 dive log, so the USB and COM port is working.

Any thoughts?

I always LOVE LOVE LOVE getting the personal email directly to me if no one responds to an email like the below on a Sunday.

No Chris, I don't know why this isn't working for you. No, I don't use Windows and can't tell you which COM port to use. Yes, we have a few brave users who provide excellent support to other users, but maybe they weren't around on Sunday - dunno.

/D

Problem solved, on my own. I restarted my computer to clear out anything using the com ports. Using Device manager I determind which com port Windows had assigned as the Suunto USB Serial Port (COM7). In import dives I set Device or Mount Point to COM 7, then imported the dives.

Thanks for following up - I'm sure this will be super useful for others to see who run into similar problems in the future.

The COM-port management on Windows has always just puzzled me - but I'll add this to my set of "have you tried this" answers... of course, telling people to "try and reboot" is almost a running joke at this point.

Again, thanks for letting us know!
