As always, the iOS binaries are currently only in the open beta, they have been submitted for general release.

Android, signed Windows and macOS installers, plus an AppImage are on the web site, new builds have been submitted for the various distros and should be available as regular updates by now.

The big change in this release is that it contains the first version of the

*Subsurface-mobile Dive Planner*

This is available for Android and iOS. It is currently open circuit only, but the plan is to add support for planning CCR dives in due course.

Please test and provide feedback!

Thank you! This is great. At one point I tried to implement it but quickly realised that was beyond the limits of my ability and spare time.
I noticed a couple of issues that are hopefully a quick fix.
- the list of cylinders appears just to be the hard-coded default cylinders, as opposed to the ones available in the dropdown for real dives, which includes user-defined cylinders. I usually dive with double 12.2 l steel cylinders, aka HP100s.
- the gas consumption (in bar) calculation appears to be based on an AL80 / 11.1 l cylinder, regardless of what cylinder is selected from the list.

Tested on an iPhone v6.0.5436

Cheers,
Rick

It's great that this is moving forward. So far, I had only seen it in the mobile on desktop version, now it's on my iPhone 14. But the layout is not perfect:

Hi,
Why when I manually add a dive the time is always one hour ahead of my computer's time which is set to local time?
This has been happening since the very early versions of Subsurface.
Also I've asked before but only received a flippant answer. Why am I not able to manually input my average depth?

Cheers,
Alan

C-Gas should better be "OC" and the entered depth and duration are probably white on white. And I still think, entering those with spinners is quicker than typing in the numbers. Furthermore, I think we should get rid of the disclaimer.

Best
Robert

The iOS app has just been approved by Apple, so all iOS users will now get the update notification.

Howdy all,

I’m currently on 6.0.5112-CICD-release.

I have looked around the Subsurface website and the subsurface github repo and don’t see what I’m looking for.

Is there easy way for me to see what the changes are between what I’m running and the latest release?

Thanks.

Ask github copilot?

I said "Describe the most interesting or significant user-facing changes to Subsurface since Mar 3, 2024. Ignore CICD, github actions, dependabot updates." to which copilot replied

Here are the most interesting or significant user-facing changes to Subsurface since March 3, 2024, based on merged pull requests (excluding CI/CD, GitHub Actions, and dependabot updates):

- **Mobile App Enhancements**
  - Major improvements to the mobile dive planner, including backend functionality and new planning features. (PRs: [#4568](https://github.com/subsurface/subsurface/pull/4568), [#4582](https://github.com/subsurface/subsurface/pull/4582))
  - Added the ability to merge dives on mobile. (PR: [#4555](https://github.com/subsurface/subsurface/pull/4555))
  - Improved support for time synchronization with dive computers. (PR: [#4562](https://github.com/subsurface/subsurface/pull/4562))
  - Firmware update support added for Heinrichs Weikamp devices on mobile. (PR: [#4563](https://github.com/subsurface/subsurface/pull/4563))

- **Dive Computer & Device Support**
  - Added support for the Halcyon BLE service. (PR: [#4468](https://github.com/subsurface/subsurface/pull/4468))
  - Enhanced Divesoft log file import and added support for the new Liberty model. (PR: [#4538](https://github.com/subsurface/subsurface/pull/4538))
  - Improved support for Bluetooth device recognition, especially for OSTC5. (PR: [#4548](https://github.com/subsurface/subsurface/pull/4548))
  - UDDF import improvements, including gradient factor support for APD Inspiration. (PR: [#4591](https://github.com/subsurface/subsurface/pull/4591))

- **Desktop Features & Usability**
  - Added a “reverse profile” planner action in the desktop version. (PR: [#4559](https://github.com/subsurface/subsurface/pull/4559))
  - Fixed a segfault on desktop startup if no system language is selected. (PR: [#4532](https://github.com/subsurface/subsurface/pull/4532))
  - Improved handling of tank pressure data for certain CCR dives. (PR: [#4523](https://github.com/subsurface/subsurface/pull/4523))
  - Fixed the purging of the received packets queue and error reporting for BLE packets. (PRs: [#4543](https://github.com/subsurface/subsurface/pull/4543), [#4544](https://github.com/subsurface/subsurface/pull/4544))

- **Export & File Handling**
  - Added export of a JSON file in addition to the existing JS file. (PR: [#4472](https://github.com/subsurface/subsurface/pull/4472))

- **Documentation & Miscellaneous**
  - Several documentation updates, including import processes and IrDA dive computers.
  - Retired the legacy CHANGELOG file (PR: [#4560](https://github.com/subsurface/subsurface/pull/4560)).

These changes focus on enhancing user experience on mobile and desktop, expanding device compatibility, and improving planning, data handling, and export capabilities. For a complete and up-to-date list of user-facing changes, you can browse all merged PRs since March 3, 2024, here:

GDB has a 'break' feature; why doesn't it have 'fix' too?

Have a look at https://github.com/subsurface/nightly-builds/releases - the release notes have a mention of what was changed for every release.

I can confirm these bugs are present. The cylinder used for calculations is actually reading as the users default cylinder, or AL80 if no default is set (I believe). The custom cylinder issue is only present in the first, pre-populated, cylinder (additional added cylinders should contain the entire list). I will work on these bugs as time allows.

Thank you,

Hi Liz.

First of all thank you for putting in the work to bring the dive planner across the line on mobile - I think this will be very well received by a lot of users!

Let me know if you want help with this - I was going to have a go at it, so you are able to work on your gas calculator improvements.

I have tracked down and fixed the issues with the tanks not being sent to the planner correctly, as well as the tank not showing custom user-input tanks. (And another bug that was programmatically similar, where selecting the gas in the segment field did not actually function correctly). There is one bug that I can not seem to squash, and that is the initial pressures. I believe this is because the mobile planner is stateless (to the backend), and so as part of the planning it resets the start pressure to the tanks working pressure. The calculation and used gas psi/volume is correct, but it does not take into account the actual fill pressure of the tanks.

Once I either get that figured out (or we accept that the mobile planner cannot handle the start pressure field) I can open the bugfix PR.
