total noob with substruct and totally lost

So, i'm helping out a friend and trying to make edits to his website.
the website front end is a mystery to me. The source code has a simple
img src tag displaying a homepage image. this image is not referenced
in any style sheet nor can I find it in a code search of all the
files. Any help is much appreciated on how I can edit the GUI of this
website and the html code.
