Iput this together for a game I'm working on, but I thought it might be useful to folks as a standalone cart. The code is clearly segregated between the demo and the actual high score code, so should be easy to lift and shift, or feel free to adapt as you like.
Just wanted to say thanks for sharing this code! With a little bit of tweaking I was able to slot it nicely into my game (even if I was very confused at first why my scores were multiplied by 65,536!)
The easiest way to reset all highscores is to call the load_scores function if the stored "magic_number" does not match the one in high_score_table. This is already done in the code. To reset all highscores manually, you can change the "magic_number" and then call load_scores.
If the record is to complete a task in the shortest possible time (such as a race), then you need to change the logic in the check_current_score function. Instead of checking if the current score is greater than the saved score, check if it is less.
Give your team the Home court advantage and promote your school pride with a high-quality scoring table. Available in standard and deluxe versions, we have the size and the functionality that you need.
After receiving your Official Score Report, you may be tempted to focus on your Total Score. However, it will be just as important to review your percentile ranking as you look to understand your results.
If you're familiar with the previous edition of the GMAT, the GMAT Exam (10th Edition), you'll notice the Total Score scale is different from the current edition, the GMAT Exam (Focus Edition). This change has been made to ensure you and schools can easily distinguish scores between editions.
The score scale for the GMAT Exam (Focus Edition) has also been adjusted to reflect changes in the test-taking population, which has become more diverse and global. Over the years, scores have shifted significantly, resulting in an uneven distribution. The updated score scale fixes that, thus allowing schools to better differentiate your performance on the exam.
On the GMAT Exam (10th Edition), many test takers aimed for a score of 700. On the GMAT Exam (Focus Edition), a score of 645 is equivalent to a 700 due to the new score scale. Since they are both in the 89th percentile, they represent the same level of performance. Therefore, while scores may look "lower" in comparison, they aren't. The GMAT Exam (Focus Edition) is scored differently, and business schools know this when reviewing your application and paying more attention to your percentile ranking.
Percentile rankings indicate what percentage of test takers you performed better than. For example, a percentile ranking of 75% means that you performed better than 75% of other test takers, and 25% of test takers performed better than you.
Total Scores for the GMAT Exam (Focus Edition) range from 205 to 805. Your GMAT Total Score is composed of the Quantitative Reasoning, Verbal Reasoning, and Data Insights sections of the exam. The contribution of each section score to Total Score is equally weighted across sections.
Format: Consists of 20 multiple-choice questions, to be completed in 45 minutes. Question types include: Data Sufficiency, Multi-Source Reasoning, Table Analysis, Graphics Interpretation, and Two-Part Analysis. An on-screen calculator is available in this section.
How its Scored: The Data Insights score is based on three factors: 1) the number of questions answered, 2) whether the answers are correct or incorrect, and 3) the difficulty and other parameters of the questions answered. Some questions may have multiple parts; all parts of a question must be answered correctly to receive credit for that question.
What it Measures: Overall, this section measures the ability to read and comprehend written material and to reason and evaluate arguments. Reading Comprehension questions measure the ability to understand words and statements, understand logical relationships between significant points, draw inferences, and follow the development of quantitative concepts. Critical Reasoning questions measure the ability to make arguments, evaluate arguments, and formulate or evaluate a plan of action.
How its Scored: The Verbal Reasoning score is based on three factors: 1) the number of questions answered, 2) whether the answers are correct or incorrect, and 3) the difficulty and other parameters of the questions answered.
How its Scored: The Quantitative Reasoning score is based on three factors: 1) the number of questions answered, 2) whether the answers are correct or incorrect, and 3) the difficulty and other parameters of the questions answered.
Format: The GMAT Exam (Focus Edition) Total Score is composed of the Quantitative Reasoning, Verbal Reasoning, and Data Insights sections of the exam. The contribution of each section score to Total Score is equally weighted across sections.
What it Measures: The GMAT measures the higher-order reasoning and data literacy skills necessary for graduate business management students to succeed in a technologically advanced and data-rich world.
The GMAT Total Score ranges from 205 to 805 on the current edition of the exam, the GMAT Exam (Focus Edition), while the previous edition of the GMAT, the GMAT Exam (10th Edition) has a Total Score range of 200-800. Because the GMAT Exam (Focus Edition) Total Score scale AND score scale distribution are different from the GMAT Exam (10th Edition), comparing total scores or section scores from the previous version of the exam to the current edition of the GMAT is not appropriate, accurate, or a meaningful comparison of performance.
If your relative competitiveness based on the GMAT Exam (Focus Edition) needs to be compared to the GMAT Exam (10th Edition), it is more appropriate to compare percentile rankings rather than comparing total scores. Use the concordance table below to show score distributions between the two versions of the exam by percentile (updated January 2024).
In determining the server for points, after the initial serve is determined by a coin toss, the receiving player/team becomes the serving player/team after two points have been scored. This rotation continues until the end of the game, or until a game is tied at 10, at which point players/team alternate service after every point. The player or pair who served first in a game receives first in the next game of the match. In doubles, after each game, the serving rotation changes so the players receive from the server they did not receive from in the previous game.
If there is a 10-10 tie, the game is won by the first player/team to score two points more than the opposition. In the last possible game of a match, the players/teams change ends when either player/team has scored five points.
This table shows the recommendation that each AP score offers about how qualified you are to receive college credit and placement if you earn that score. It also shows the equivalent college course grade for each score.
Hi, I need assistance debugging a program to build a Z-score table with the intention to reproduce in Mathcad a z-score table very similar to the one that we could create with an excel spreadsheet. This just for fun!
I posted a previous problem some weeks ago concerning debugging a long expression for calculating the alcohol density given some temperature and some alcoholic strength. Luckily, one of the user identified my error and I got the expected results. Back then, my idea was to build a table similar to the one that you have just elegantly programmed. I was working on that too, modifying your procedure to suit such a long expression. I tried many different ways without luck. Here I attach the Mathcad worksheet and the density table as guide for a fix. I worked with a small subset of a whole table, with temperature ranging from 10 to 20 and the alcohol strength from 0.50 to 0.59. Have a look please, and tell me if there is a solution. Thank you!
Werner, I am so sorry for massacring your name. It was unintentionally. Why did you let my errors run for such a long time without warning me? You made me realize that I was mistyping your name since the beginning of this thread. I apology for that. On the opposite side, I celebrate your expertise and know how. You are really a very smart guy, a genius! People @ PTC need to hire persons like you!!
Your fix and your trick, worked awesome. After your brilliant fix, I modified your code to turn the first row into a column vector and the first column into a row vector to simulate the arrangement like in the alcohol density table attached earlier.
TOEFL iBT section scores give you even more insight into your applicant's abilities and can help you see whether a test taker demonstrated the skills that are most important to your program or institution.
ETS does not recommend using these tables as the only resource to set cut scores. The TOEFL program provides the Guidelines for Setting Useful Score Requirements for the TOEFL iBT Test (PDF) to help institutions set useful and relevant score requirements.
The mapping of TOEFL iBT scores and CEFR levels is based on an initial standard-setting exercise with educators, and subsequent analyses of test scores to address feedback from universities and teachers of English about the levels of performance in an academic setting.
The TOEFL iBT test provides the highest measurement precision at language-proficiency levels B2 and C1, which are typical requirements for admissions in higher-education institutions. Test takers with very high scores are likely to be able to perform at CEFR level C2.
Institutions can accept both the TOEFL iBT and TOEFL Essentials tests for the same purposes, including university admissions. To make sure your score requirements are aligned, visit Setting Score Requirements for TOEFL Essentials.
Students who complete two exams with duplicate or overlapping content (e.g. AP and IB), or who complete an exam and a college course with duplicate or overlapping content will be awarded credit for only one exam or course.
