Thegame crashed on me a few times today and ever since there have been two black boxes at the bottom left of my screen covering my Sim's mood and headshot (see attached). I've exited and restarted several times and even uninstalled and reinstalled - the boxes are still there. Is this a known bug? What do I do?

The game crashed on me a few times today (likely due to an already existing but I believe EA knows about) and ever since there have been two black boxes at the bottom left of my screen covering my Sim's mood and headshot (see attached). @Sapphir567 If you use mods or custom content, please move the entire Mods folder out of Documents\Electronic Arts and onto your desktop, and delete localthumbcache as well. Load your save and see whether the problem is still present. If it is, please test on a new save as well.
I don't have any mods or custom content. I downloaded the game from Steam a couple weeks ago and only have about 19 hrs of playtime. I did download the holiday DLC (the free one) but I have not installed it, so that shouldn't be a factor at all.
Or you can try switching households and back. Be sure to use "save as" to rename the save first, so your original copy is intact if you want to revert to it. Save and quit to desktop after switching to a different household and before switching back, and delete localthumbcache.package in between as well.
@Sapphir567 Yes, that's what I'm suggesting, except also save and then quit to desktop after switching to the second household. Please let me know whether you see the same problem in the other household too.
@Sapphir567 Moving this to tech for troubleshooting
Unfortunately the virus scanner doesn't work. Could you either insert the pictures directly into the post (image icon in the icon bar) or upload to a third party site and link ?
Try repairing your game through Steam.
I don't work or have any association with EA. I give advice to the best of my knowledge and cannot be held responsible for any damage done to your computer/game.
Please only contact me via PM when asked to do so.
1. Image Quality: Your headshot should be a high-resolution photo. A digital camera or phone with an excellent camera that has portrait mode can do the trick. Ask a friend or parent to help you so the quality is high and professional. Please, no fuzzy headshots or mirror selfies.
2. Setting: When in doubt, head outside to take your photo. Natural lighting provides a very even look over the whole photo, and makes you, look like you. Choose a neutral background like a brick or blank wall. Try and avoid distracting or busy backgrounds. You should be the main focal point of the photo.
3. What to Wear: A simple, solid color top that fits you well and matches your eyes always looks best. Avoid colors that blend too much to your skin tone, graphics, and anything you think might distract from your face. No need to get dressed up in a prom dress or tux. The more natural, the better!
Check out some of the photos for some excellent examples. Please note, for the purposes of our program, we are not asking you to spend money on a professional headshot. However, as you advance in your career as an actor, it is important to invest in professional photos.
