Get ready to fall in love with our favorite jean of the season. We took this classic silhouette, and gave it an updated wash and scissor cut hem to make it the ultimate jean for dressing up and dressing down.

I love the idea of foraging for wild edibles. I try not to do it too much though because, unless they are invasive or grow in overwhelming abundance, humans are having such a negative impact on species diversity through habitat destruction and overharvesting that it is better for the planet to leave native plants alone. For me, just the thought that I could scrounge some food from the forest in an emergency makes me feel, in a good way, more like the animal I am rather than a thing apart from nature.

My worry with foraging mushrooms, like anything else, is how much is too much? Luckily there are sustainable ways to harvest wild mushrooms. Because mushrooms are the fruiting body of a much larger organism it is possible to take mushrooms without harm. You just need to remember that these are reproductive structures, leave enough for the fungus to reproduce. I love this advice from The Mushroom Huntress (www.mushroomhuntress.com).

These are great rules to follow in general. Trampling can also kill other native wild plants. Always pay attention to where you step! But, get out there. There is so much going on in the woods right now. The forecast calls for another dry week. While this can be great for fall colors, let's hope for more rain and with it, mushrooms.

The Maryland Department of Natural Resources reminds residents that black bears are beginning a period of increased feeding activity in preparation for winter hibernation. As the leaves change and the weather cools, bears become more active as they search for food.

During this time, bears will travel across roads more frequently. They also can become more attracted to human-provided food sources and lose their natural fear of people, which can be dangerous for both people and bears.

Whatever your preferred name, this beer shares a few similarities with other beer styles. It has the hop character and alcohol content of an IPA or one of its stronger relatives. In terms of color, a Cascadian dark should resemble a porter or a stout, ranging anywhere from a dark brown or ruby to jet black in appearance.

In my black IPA recipe (which is my first of the style, I admit) I am going with a fairly straightforward grain bill: 2-row, munich and light crystal, with Carafa II to provide color. Hopping follows a fairly normal IPA schedule and uses northwest American hops (one of the arguments of using the name Cascadian Dark Ale is that most of the ingredients should come from that region). And to ferment, a Northwest Ale strain of yeast.

Ryan, Wes here. When I brewed mine, I did leave the dark grains out until the last 10 minutes of the mash. If you are recirculating, I might actually add them a little earlier, maybe with 20 or so minutes in the mash. Also, I might use Carafa III instead of using II or adding any more grains. Yep, you are correct, it is the de-husked, which should allow dark color without typical harshness of other roasted grains. Mashing with the Carafa might help color as well, though you might get more roastiness. I hope this help! Cheers, Wes

The outfits
We both agreed right off the bat, white was not an option. We always have loved all black, so why should this be any different? When looking for inspo, we loved how the all black look, looked, so we ran with it. He wore an all black tux, with satin lining, a black dress shirt and black suspenders. She wore a black dress that had a corset back, lace sleeves/chest, buttons on the sleeves and an A line frame.

Flowers
We mainly had dried floral, pampass grass, palm leaves, bunny tails, wheat etc. Our center pieces included succulents which were also the wedding favors. The dried florals gave off boho vibes, which we were going for.

Personal touches
Instead of a typical guest book, we had Polaroid cameras that you would take a photo and sign it and write a little something next to it. Our favourite part was instead of a typical photo booth we had a photo op area that had a couch and decor to take pictures with friends and families at.

Hi can you give me a few more details?
i am considering for a 4year old preschool class
did u use parchment or tracing paper over the taped down leaves to make the rubbings?
i see your younger child used a different color crayons not the black...before using a
watercolor paint over? Or you could leave the way it is and not paint?

I'm not sure what to do after taping the leaves down. You take a crayon and rub the color onto the
leaf? It doesn't tear? Then you turn it over and rub it onto a piece of paper? I'm sorry. There are not enough details to make this process more clear. I've never done rubbings before. Please explain in
a bt more detail..Thank you.
