That said, you might not have a strong and unique Facebook password. Maybe a reshuffled spelling of your name is the key to your account. But if it's not strong, there's a chance that someone could be trying to breach your Facebook account. In which case, it's probably time to change your password.
I fixed this by going to the related app in Facebook Developer center and resetting the Facebook App Secret (even reauthorizing would not work). It is the only way I could fix it and very frustrating and ridiculous that because the user changes their login password that it breaks the API/app.
You get this message because you have probably changed your password of your Facebook account. On the other hand, your instagram account password remained the same. The easiest way is to change your instagram password. Click to setting in instagram app, click reset the password. The program will probably send you a reset password link. Do it. Re-connect your instagram with your new password. The app will ask you to continue with your Facebook account and you in this way have re-given permission to instagram to publish ads. You are ready to go!
When you use your PayPal account to process transactions using Facebook, Facebook will sign you up for Automatic payments with them. This is why you are not prompted for your password each time. If you want to cancel this, please click here.
I have the same problem but when I click your link it says the page is no longer available. I tried Paypal customer service but apparently 10.30 in the morning is outside their opening hours. Any ideas? cheers Pete
Hi Petepowergen, did you try the solution I found re going into paypal settings - account - and cancelling all the ones that say they have pre approved payment? I was shocked when I found that about 8 companies, most of which I had only used once, had automatically given themselves pre approved payment! I too gave up with paypal customer service, apparently morning, early afternoon and late afternoon are all outside working hours. I got my most helpful answer by posting the problem on facebook. Good luck
Hi, I did find the pre approved entries. There were two relating to Ebay butI have not cancelled them yet because apparently they cannot be reinstated now. I was hoping somebody may have a solution that resolved to issue without breaking the link between Ebay and Paypal. I don't quite know how it would all work if I had to use another payment method. Fear of the unknown I guess.
Many thanks for your help. I have now disconnected the paypal link from my facebook account. I hadn't been aware there was such a link, and I am sure many others would be in the same situation. Thank you
I have found another answer to the issue - Log into Paypal and then go to your account settings which is the gear icon next to the logout button. Across the top there's a bar, it opens in account but you want to open payments then you click manage automatic payments and then tick show active and you should be able to work it out from there.
I am trying to download the oculus rift app on my gaming laptop and it is asking me to put in my oculus password. I have forgotten it so I pressed the 'forgot password' button and it led me to a website wanting me to put my email in, and once I did it just said, 'You merged this Oculus account with a Facebook account. Please go back and log in with Facebook.' I logged in with Facebook, it didn't do anything. I cannot reset my Oculus password. Please help.

Hello, I have the same problem. I just get looped back to "login with facebook". If that was possible I would not need to reset my oculus password! So how on earth can I do this? The link to does not contain any information on this whatsoever.
Having trouble with a Facebook or Instagram account? The best place to go for help with those accounts is the Facebook Help Center or the Instagram Help Center. This community can't help with those accounts.
Facebook then stores their respective hashes (which are different, of course) so that if a user user types his password (after reset), the hash of the new password is compared to all these stored hashes: Facebook can tell you then if your new password is similar to the previous one or not.
We hash each password using our internal password hashing algorithm and the unique salt for that person. Since Facebook stores passwords securely as hashes, we can't simply compare a password directly to the database. We need to hash it first and compare the hashes.
The technical details are given in brief but Facebook does use hashing with unique salts. The plain text passwords are hashed with undisclosed algorithm(as Facebook has not revealed it) and then prefixed or postfixed with unique salt and compare it. If it matches then the user gets the green light otherwise no. In case, of similar password, may be Facebook use pre-computed and predicted hashed passwords like replace a with @ or i with 1 or replacing alphabet/s with Upper or lower case. It's given here in brief.
I recently got a new iPhone 8. Ever since then, my LAPTOP has been sending me a message. (I'm not sure if there is a connection between the two devices but it started happening right after I got the new phone.)
The message pops up and says "Facebook Password Required" and instructs me to "Enter your password for in Internet Accounts. When I try to do that it tells me that the password is not valid. Now it's certainly possible I'm entering the wrong password, I have too many, but I'm pretty sure it's one of the ones that I have tried so far. The other thing is, I'm not at all sure why it's asking me for this information because I can access Facebook both on my laptop and on my phone. But it sure seems urgent because as soon as I click "Close" on the notification, it pops up again.
So, if anyone can tell me why I'm getting this message, that would be great. And what I can do about not entering the right password (since there is no Forgot Password? link), that would be great too.
Thanks for responding. I have done this. In fact today, just to be sure I was entering the correct Facebook password, I reset my password. So I'm 100% positive I'm entering the correct password, but this message keeps popping up and saying Facebook Password Required. I've done it both ways - by clicking Continue when the message appears, and by going directly to System Preferences as you suggest. I would like to just ignore the message. There doesn't seem to be any issue with me accessing Facebook or any other area of the internet. But it's annoying and I don't know how to make the message stop.
I share your pain and your experience. I have gone through completing the request to enter passwords and used the suggestion of going through preferences as given and same outcome, password/account not valid and then..... - that blasted pop up comes back asking to enter my password for Facebook and internet accounts. I would really appreciate an understanding of why this is happening because clearly it is not an isolated occurrence - and I haven't changed any of my equipment so thats not a reason. Do hope someone can help because its really annoying!
I'm having the same problem and really wish someone had an answer. I've gone to the system preferences and entered every password I think they are asking for (gmail, Apple ID, facebook). I'm not even sure which password they are supposedly requiring. Regardless, every one I enter is invalid and I know they are correct. HELP!!
This is clearly an Apple system problem, how do we get someone to respond and advise what they have done to result in this annoying situation? Dont Apple monitor this site? If so - come on Apple sort this out for us please! I just want this annoying pop up to go away for good!
This is annoying and here is why? If you are using a Mac you can't post pictures from the Photos onto Facebook. You also can't post music from the music platform. This is ridiculous. Will someone at Apple please respond?
Is this something new then because it has only started coming up on my Mac for the last week or so. I have made no changes to any of my Apple products so can only assume that there have been some application changes made by Apple? I wholeheartedly agree - Apple obviously caused this, they should fix it because its bloody annoying.
It started happening on my iPhone 8 Plus 2 days ago but once I entered my password it went away. Still happening on my Mac. It makes no sense. I guess Apple support does not monitor this site because I see no response from them. Frustrating.
