We're experiencing a major technology outage as a result of a cyber-attack. The outage is affecting our website, online systems and services, as well as some onsite services, however, our buildings are still open as usual. We anticipate restoring more services in the next few weeks, but disruption to certain services is now expected to persist for several months.
If you have a password for British Library services that you use on other websites, we recommend you change it elsewhere as a precaution. The National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) provides guidance on staying secure online, including how to create a strong password, and specific guidance for individuals who may have been impacted by a data breach.
The Library's buildings remain fully open but some services are limited, including access to collection items. We'reregularly updating our blog with the latest information on what's currently available online and onsite so pleasecheck this before you visit.
Can I drop in to ask a reference question?
Yes, librarians are meeting with patrons at the reference desk. We also encourage you to use our virtual reference services that include - Live Chat, E-mail (RefQ), Zoom, and Phone.

Support-A-Member (SAM) applications will now be accepted throughout the year! The SAM program is designed to make it possible for school librarians, teacher-librarians, library assistants, and others interested in school library service living in IASL Zone C countries to belong to IASL. The National Library of Medicine Training Center (NTC) will be offering a new online class called "PubMed for Librarians" beginning in January 2013. Participants can choose any or all of the five segments (one hour each) that interest them. Each session will be held using Adobe Connect and is worth one hour of MLA CE credit.

RootsMOOC online genealogy course from the Z. Smith Reynolds Library at Wake Forest University and the Government and Heritage Library of the State Library of North Carolina.
