U/S Community meeting

Tuesday Apr 7th

  • Website help from @tigert https://github.com/submariner-io/submariner-website/issues/72

  • Continuing work on: https://github.com/orgs/submariner-io/projects/5

    • Planning 0.3.0 RC1 on Apr 15th

    • Planning 0.3.0 on Apr 21th

  • [chris] working on getting the CNCF stuff

  • [mangelajo] talks about

    • The possibility of using a LoadBalancer for the UDP IPSEC traffic at some point as an option for deployment, as in some cases (openshift topology) we need to spawn a completely separate worker node/sets of nodes just for submariner to get a public IP.

      • Chris is worried about latency and other implications depending on how the cloud provider implements this

      • We agree that this if implemented should be an optional feature.

    • the status API/structs of the gateway: https://github.com/submariner-io/submariner/pull/485/files

    • We could potentially add in the future details about latency, packets and bytes transmitted, etc.

    • That we could reuse those details in the future to push to prometheus. Is prometheus a standard around k8s in general?

      • [chris] confirms it is at this point quite an standard.
