English Translation of Al-Quran

[53] Surah An-Najm [The Star]

Ayat 5. He [Muhammad ﷺ  [SAWW](PBUH) has been taught (this Qur’an) by one mighty in power [Jibrael AS (Gabriel)].

Ayat 6. Dhu Mirrah (free from any defect in body and mind), Fastawa [then he (Jibrael (Gabriel) rose and became stable].

Ayat 7. While he [Jibrael (Gabriel)] was in the highest part of the horizon,

Ayat 8. Then he [Jibrael (Gabriel)] approached and came closer,

Ayat 9. And was at a distance of two bows' length or (even) nearer.

Ayat 10. So did (Allah) convey the Inspiration to His servant [Muhammad ﷺ [SAWW](PBUH) through Jibrael AS (Gabriel).

Tafseer of Surah An-Najm (The Star) Ayat 05 to 10. He was taught by one Mighty in Power, this is referred by the Commentators to the angel Gabriel, through whom the inspiration came. Cf. 81:20. 6. Endued with Wisdom: for he appeared (in stately form); 7. While he was in the highest part of the horizon: Gabriel appeared in stately form, perhaps towering above the Mountain of Light (see C. 31). Istawa in verse 6, translated "appeared", means literally "mounted" or "ascended", or "set himself to execute a design": see 10:3. 8. Then he approached and came closer, 9. And was at a distance of but two bow-lengths or (even) nearer; Two bow-shots (counting 100 to 150 yards to a bow-shot) would be a clearly visible distance. 10. So did (Allah) convey the inspiration to His Servant- (conveyed) what He (meant) to convey. Gabriel would be just a messenger, to do no more than convey Allah's Message to Allah's Messenger.

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ [SAWW](PBUH) said "Every Prophet was given miracles because of which people believed, but what I have been given, is Divine Inspiration (Quran) which Allah has revealed to me. So, I hope that my followers will outnumber the followers of the other Prophets on the Day of Resurrection."

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah An-Najm Ayat 10. So did (Allah) convey the Inspiration to His servant [Muhammad ﷺ [SAWW](PBUH) through Jibrael AS (Gabriel)" Those who neglected the teachings of Islam will be disgraced and humiliated. May Allah guide and enable us to re-establish our contact with the Qur'an so that we can regain our past glory'.
