English Translation of Al-Quran

[63] Surah Al-Munafiqun [The Hypocrites]

Ayat 9. O you who believe! Let not your properties or your children divert you from the remembrance of Allah. And whosoever does that, then they are the losers.

Tafseer of Surah Al-Munafiqun Ayat 9. O ye who believe! Let not your riches or your children divert you from the remembrance of Allah. If any act thus, the loss is their own. Riches and human resources of all kinds are but fleeting sources of enjoyment. They should not turn away the good man from his devotion to Allah. "Remembrance of Allah" includes every act of service and goodness, every kind thought and kind deed, for this is the service and sacrifice which Allah requires of us. If we fail in this, the loss is our own, not anyone else's: for it stunts our own spiritual growth.

Hadith # 088 (1).jpg

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat Uqbah bin Al-Harith (May Allah be pleased with him) said: Once I performed the 'Asr prayer in Al-Madinah behind the Prophet  [SAWW](PBUH). He ﷺ [SAWW](PBUH) got up quickly after finishing the prayer with Taslim, and stepping over the people, went to one of the rooms of his wives. The people were startled at his haste, and when he came out and saw their astonishment at his urgency he said, "I recalled that there was left with me some gold which was meant for charity; I did not like to keep it any longer, so I gave orders that it should be distributed".

[Al-Bukhari Hadith # 851].

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah Al-Munafiqun Ayat 09. O you who believe! Let not your properties or your children divert you from the remembrance of Allah.)",

1. A person should not keep such a thing because of which his attention is diverted from Allah (SWT) towards that thing.

2. Although it is undesirable to jump over the neck of people in ordinary circumstances, it is permissible when special conditions warrant it.
