English Translation of Al-Quran

[63] Surah Al-Munafiqun [The Hypocrites]

Ayat 10. And spend (in charity) of that with which We have provided you, before death comes to one of you and he says: "My Lord! If only You would give me respite for a little while (i.e. return to the worldly life), then I should give Sadaqah (i.e. Zakat) of my wealth , and be among the righteous [i.e. perform Hajj (pilgrimage to Makkah)].

Tafseer of Surah Al-Munafiqun Ayat 10. and spend something (in charity) out of the substance which We have bestowed on you, before Death should come to any of you and he should say, "O my Lord! Why didn't Thou not give me respite for a little while? I should then have given (largely) in charity, and I should have been one of the doers of good". "Substance" or "Sustenance", in every sense, literal and metaphorical. Whatever good we enjoy comes from Allah, and it is our duty to use some of it in the service of others, for that is Charity and the service of Allah. Every unselfish act is Charity. And we must not postpone our good resolutions to the future. Death may come suddenly on us, and we cannot then be allowed to plead for more time. Every present moment calls urgently for its good deed.

Hadith # 471 (1).jpg

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat Abdullah bin `Umar (May Allah be pleased with them) reported: Messenger of Allah  [SAWW](PBUH) took hold of my shoulders and said, "Be in the world like a stranger or a wayfarer". Ibn `Umar (May Allah be pleased with them) used to say: "When you survive till the evening, do not expect to live until the morning; and when you survive until the morning, do not expect to live until the evening; (do good deeds) when you are in good health before you fall sick, and (do good deeds) as long as you are alive before death strikes".

[Al-Bukhari Book 08, Chapter 76, Hadith # 425].

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah Al-Munafiqun Ayat 10. “"My Lord! If only You would give me respite for a little while (i.e. return to the worldly life)" A person who will consider this world as a temporary stage, will certainly not like that his clothes be entangled in thorny bushes of this world. The greatest fault of man is that he does not understand this status of the world. In spite of the fact that he is not sure of a moment's life here, he occupies himself in amassing goods and riches which would last for a hundred years.
