[54] Surah Al-Qamar [The Moon]

Ayat 36. And he [Lout AS (Lot)] indeed had warned them of Our Grasp, but they did doubt the warnings!

Tafseer of Surah Al-Qamar (The Moon) Ayat 36. And (Lut AS) did warn them of Our Punishment, but they disputed about the Warning Cf. 11:78-79.

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat Abdullah bin Amr bin Al Aas (May Allah be pleased with him) reported that he heard Messenger of Allah ﷺ [SAWW](PBUH) as saying: Verily, the hearts of all the sons of Adam are between the two fingers out of the fingers of the Compassionate Lord as one heart. He turns that to any (direction) He likes. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ [SAWW](PBUH) said: "0 Allah, the Turner of the hearts, turn our hearts to Thine obedience".

[Muslim Book 33, Chapter 03, Hadith # 6418]. 

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah Al-Qamar Ayat 36. And he [Lout (Lot)] indeed had warned them of Our Grasp, but they did doubt the warnings! Obedience ( and Guidance) here means guidance at every turn of life and steadfastness on the path of truth. Fear of Allah is the greatest means of piety and strongest defense against sins.
