[61] Surah As-Saff [The Rows]

Ayat 2. O you who believe! Why do you say that which you do not do?

Ayat 3. Most hateful it is with Allah that you say that which you do not do.

Tafseer of Surah As-Saff (The Rows) Ayat 2. O ye who believe! Why say ye that which ye do not? At Uhud there was some disobedience and therefore breach of discipline. People had talked much, but had failed to back up their resolution in words with firmness in action. 3:121. But on all occasions when men's deeds are not commensurate with their words, their conduct is odious in the sight of Allah, and it is only due to Allah's Mercy if they are saved from disaster. 3. Grievously odious is it in the sight of Allah that ye say that which ye do not.

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ [SAWW](PBUH) used to observe Itikaf every year (during Ramadan) for ten days; in the year in which he passed away, he observed Itikaf for twenty days.

Lesson : Our beloved Prophet ﷺ [SAWW](PBUH) were preparing himself for meeting with Allah (SWT) and We learn from these Hadith that the observance of Itikaf in the last ten days of Ramadan is Sunnah of the Prophet ﷺ [SAWW](PBUH). But it can be done only in a mosque, not at home. Itikaf helps to enhance one's spiritual growth and to strive hard to worship Allah better as there is nothing to distract one's attention from this noble pursuit.
