SCO X386 (X11R4) server+clients
-------------------------------

The enclosed file contains the complete build of MIT X11R4 distribution,
as well as most of the contrib dirs + some more clients from export and
other places. The server has been running for some time on SCO ODT 1.1
(UNIX System V 3.2.2), where in was installed ontop of existing ODT
X11R3 (Xsight) server. As far as I know, there is nothing to link the
server to the previous Xsight installation, less the use of 'startx'
script.

This is by no means a complete job, just a first rough shot at it. I did
not check all the clients, some may not work. Two clients have been
modified slightly: xlock, to support the secure password database, and
xman, in order to adapt it to the SCO man directory structure. This needs
some more work - I really messed this one: no mandesc support, and some
of the man sections are missing ...

The server is Thomas Roell's X386 X11R4 server, compiles for ET4000
based boards. The platform it was run on is a 386SX machine, 16Mhz,
with 8Meg memory, 1Meg ET4000 based SVGA card. I will probably try X11R5
sometime in the future, but until that, X11R4 will have to do.

To install:

Untar the disketts onto your disk. This should contain two files:

README (this file)
X11dist.tar.Z

Uncompress the tar file, then un-tar it from /, as root.

look at /usr/lib/X11/X386/Xconfig, and adjust as appropriate.
(prey)
type 'startx'

Size:

27297792 X11dist.tar
11570948 X11dist.tar.Z

Some small notes:

- I have read the server will not switch sessions. I have found this to
be untrue. Use alt-ctl-f{n} to switch sessions.
- XView 2 is not in, yet.

If you make anything out of this, please let me know ...
