I then tried 2010, 2012 and 2015 and they all loaded fine but I still cant view update error messages. I get the same default message - "The Microsoft report viewer 2008 redistributable is required for this feature, please close the console before installing this package."

Seems like the Microsoft report viewer package was missing. As a result the reports were not displayed at all. To install report viewer download it from here. You could also install the report viewer located under C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Configuration Manager\AdminConsole\bin folder.

Using the demo version of InstallShield 2020 Express, downloaded last month. I am looking to create a very simple installation, zero bells and whistles, for a Visual Studio 2019 Winform app using InstallShield as a project within Visual Studio. Only slightly unusual item is that the app requires both Microsoft Report Viewer and Crystal Reports for viewing a bunch of legacy reports. And this is where things go wrong:

In the 'Redistributables' section, selecting the Microsoft report viewer or Crystal Reports, I immediately get 'The download failed; make sure you are running as Administrator, and that your machine is connected to the internet. Would you like to try again?'

On one machine, it says it needs to install the SQL CLR types -- both 32 and 64 bit, along with the report viewer. The other one I just tried announced that it need only the SQL CLR installs. It seems to proceed, but for unknown reasons is download dotnetfx -- .NET Framework 1.0 SP 3. I have no idea where that comes from, other than perhaps as being required by the either the MS Report Viewer or the Crystal Reports Viewer.

Microsoft Report Viewer control enables applications that run on the .NET Framework to display reports designed using Microsoft reporting technology. This redistributable package contains Windows and Web versions of the Report Viewer. Supported Operating Systems:Windows 7;Windows Server 2003 R2 (32-Bit x86);Windows Server 2003 R2 x64 editions;Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 2;Windows Server 2008 R2;Windows Server 2008 Service Pack 2;Windows Vista Service Pack 2;Windows XP Service Pack 3

After searching for some answers I found out that people with WS 2012r2 in order to view reports on WSUS install either Report Viewer 2008 SP1 Redistributableor MICROSOFT REPORT VIEWER 2012 RUNTIME. I wonder in what situation would you choose either of them?

To resolve this issue with earlier SQL versions, install the latest SQL Server service pack such as SQL 2005 Service Pack 2, and the updated Report Viewer redistributable package, on the Marshal Reporting Console server.

Once you have installed the WSUS role in Windows Server 2016, you will need to take a look at the reports from clients at some point. Thus, you will know which clients are fully updated and who is not.

My heart sunk and my blood ran cold. What have I done? I was afraid I would need to go back to VS 2008 just to keep the reports compatible with .NET 3.5! Fortunately, converting to the new Report Viewer control turned out to be OK (so far), but there were some surprises along the way.

I used the incredibly powerful jQuery.UI.Layout already in this site, so I just continued to use it on the report pages. The trick to getting the report control to resize properly in my case was to find the report viewer control and call recalculateLayout() whenever the browser was resized. This happens on line 22 in the code below:

Below is the third page of the generated report. The Report Viewer provides navigation controls on its toolbar to let you jump to the first page, last page, next page, previous page, and specific page number:

The Report view uses layout parameters stored in the iMIS SystemConfig table, so you can change parameters once (such as to assign corporate colors or A4 paper size) and have all IQA reports conform to your standards across the organization.

This IQA-based reporting works with all of your queries, old and new. Everything you need for IQA reporting is distributed with iMIS. No additional licensing is needed for the ReportViewer control, which is a Microsoft redistributable component. Nor do you need to install Reporting Services on SQL Server, since the Report Viewer does all the needed processing.

WSUS is quite powerful in that it can provide us reports containing useful information regarding which Windows machines have which Windows updates applied, allowing us to get a good overview of our environment.

After installing a couple of small pieces of software we can now successfully run and view various useful WSUS reports. These reports can be used to give us different information regarding the state of deployed updates in our Windows environment.

ReportViewer is a freely redistributable control that enables embedding reports inapplications developed using the .NET Framework. Reports are designed with drag-and-drop simplicity using Report Designer included in Visual Studio 2010.

The control can process and render reports independently using a built-in engine ('local mode') or it can display reports that are processed and rendered on a Report Server ('remote mode').

Developers can now use the full power of RDL in their applications without the restrictions of RDLC. Use the Microsoft Report Designer or Report Builder to build reports and easily integrate them into your application.Forerunner SSRS Pro Viewer & Explorer

A: No. The ReportViewer control is freely redistributable. It can work independently of SQL Server ('local mode') and a SQL Server license is not required. In remote mode the ReportViewer control talks to a Report Server. The Report Server does require a SQL Server license.

A: The ReportViewer control does not prompt for parameters when in local mode. It prompts for parameters when it is connected to a Report Server. In local mode it does not make sense for ReportViewer to prompt for parameters. The rationale is as follows: The most common use of report parameters is to pass to queries as values of query parameters. But unlike the Report Server, the ReportViewer control does not execute queries itself. Rather, queries are executed by the host application, and the result is passed to the ReportViewer control. So the ReportViewer control does not have the opportunity to set query parameters. Applications should take advantage of the parameterization features of Visual Studio data wizards instead.

A: There are two editions of Report Designer. One comes in the Visual Studio 2008 box. The other comes in the SQL Server 2008 box. If you are using the Report Designer included in SQL Server 2008, the Preview tab is still available. If you are using the Report Designer included in Visual Studio 2008, you have to run your application in order to preview the report.

In local processing mode, the ReportViewer control is designed to integrate well with the host application. That includes being able to generate reports based on business objects that are internal to your application.

A: Unlike the Report Server the ReportViewer control does not connect to databases or execute queries. Also, in local mode the only export formats available are Excel, Word and PDF. (In remote mode all formats supported by the Report Server are available.) The ReportViewer control cannot be extended by adding custom renderers or custom report items.

Microsoft Report Viewer control enables applications that run on the .NET Framework to display reports designed using Microsoft reporting technology. This redistributable package contains Windows and Web versions of the Report Viewer.

Microsoft Report Viewer Redistributable is a utility that enables applications and programs that run on the .NET Framework to display reports in an organized manner which were designed using Microsoft Reporting Technology. Microsoft Report Viewer Redistributable is used for developing static reports which are highly customizable. In fact, just about any object of the report can be manually changed or made dynamic with the expression language it uses. The ability to organize report data, collect and filter it can make it very attractive to developers and programmers alike.

NET is a powerful software framework library released by Microsoft to support may programming languages. Most applications create reports which contain information about their working environments but tend to be difficult to view them. Microsoft Report Viewer will collect the information and tailor it in a way to make it useful for viewing.

We appreciate your prompt responses. To ensure a comprehensive examination of this issue, we will initiate an internal review with our specialized team once we have gathered all the necessary information. However, it is crucial for us to obtain the SSU report prior to proceeding further. Your cooperation in this matter is greatly appreciated.

To address the issue on the non-working computers, I recommend performing a clean installation of the driver as an initial troubleshooting step. Please carry out this action and kindly report back with the results.

We did a clean driver installation as per the guidance and tested our application with the latest generic Intel driver, version 31.0.101.4952, the issue still exists, and we are not able to launch our application. Here with I have attached the current SSU report and application error event viewer screenshot. Kindly review and provide some prominent solutions as soon as possible.

CCS (on Windows) has a dependency on some Microsoft runtime libraries. These libraries should be installed by the CCS installer. However there are some cases where these libraries fail to get installed properly, are corrupted, or conflict with other libraries. When this happens, CCS will fail to start. Sometimes the below errors will be reported:
