Product Design Demo

Thursday, February 19 | The Art Institute of California - Sunnyvale | 6 PM

Within the tech industry, it is becoming increasingly important to broaden our skills and embrace new ones that are paving the way of our future. Product design is described as a whole process with many different factors that go into the design. From concept to completion, an idea evolves through a life cycle of UX/UI designers, graphic/visual designers, user researchers, data analysts, and prototypers to name a few. As we see day to day, current trends of messaging, virtual reality, all things “smart”, and data storage are consistently changing.

From hardware to software, and all of the components necessary for a product design, Tech in Motion Silicon Valley will be taking a deeper look into all forms of design.

Engineering 145: "Technology Entrepreneurship" Video

We’re pleased to present another course showcase produced by STVP: a video and article on the popular and inspiring course Engineering 145: "Technology Entrepreneurship” — a course that dissects and demystifies technology entrepreneurship, and has ignited the innovator in many of its students.

As one alumna in our story today states: “It’s really the skill set of learning how to discover opportunities, and then take those opportunities and form them so that they’re this great product or service that people really need.” ~ Alumna and tech entrepreneur Erin Parker, ’11.

New course: MS&E 257 – Health Care Reforms and Value-based Biomedical Innovation

A fundamental transformation of the US medical care system is underway in which healthcare policymakers, payers and administrators are intensely focused on new health policy mechanisms designed to constrain healthcare costs while promoting quality, outcomes and value. With the passage of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act in 2010, the US has entered a new era of health policy that many refer to as the new “value era.” This class evaluates healthcare reimbursement system reforms in the U.S. and abroad with a specific focus on examining their impact on the biomedical technology innovation process. In addition to lectures and case studies, guest speakers will include experts from health plans, integrated delivery systems, hospitals and the medical technology industry to share how they are responding to these ongoing reforms and the implications for successful biomedical innovation in the future. Students investigate real-world technology innovations in course projects.
