Relocating With My Firearms

Good day guys.

I am preparing to relocate to Meridian MS for a new job around mid-august and need info on how to go about moving my firearms. I do have all my hard cases and locks, can I travel with them in my checked luggage or do I have to go through John with his FFL? I presently have two handguns and a shotgun. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I have inquired as to gun laws in Meridian, you do not have to register/license (as we know it) your firearms just do the appropriate background checks and waiting period. You can travel with your firearm in your vehicle and exposed carry but you do have to register/license yourself (not your firearm) only if you wish to conceal carry.

You can travel with them to save the FFL fees. Locked case to protect/secure your firearms and your VI firearm license/s to present to CBP if requested. Arrive early to the airport, and inform the ticket counter you are traveling with "UNLOADED" firearms to be checked as luggage. After a few confused looks and two or three discussions with a supervisor, the fill out an FAA tag, stick it on the inside of your gun case, and off your guns go. Retrieve them after you clear CBP, and hand them over to TSA to be swabbed for explosive residue. That's pretty much it (in summary). Good luck in Mississippi... The VI has once again lost another shooter...
