🗣️ Contribute your voice to the Speech Accessibility Project
Are you tired of being misunderstood by voice assistants? Are you frustrated by AI customer support keeping on interrupting you? Be part of the Speech Accessibility Project to change that!
AImpower.org – a stutterer-led tech nonprofit – is partnering with the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) to improve speech recognition technology by collecting diverse speech samples,
with a focus on people who stutter.
To participate and contribute your speech, you will:
- Join recorded Zoom conversations with an interviewer who stutters or is a stuttering ally;
- Receive up to $180 in compensation ($90 per 1 hour session);
- Help build more inclusive consumer AI systems that better understand and represent disfluent speech.
Who can participate?
We are currently recruiting adults who stutter in the United States (except those living in Illinois, Texas and Washington due to state privacy laws restrictions).
