The IIFA Utsavam is the South Indian segment of the annual IIFA Awards. The awards were introduced in 2016, around the films released in 2015. The 1st IIFA Utsavam was held on 24 and 25 January 2016 at the Gachibowli Athletic Stadium, Hyderabad, India.[1]

The first awards were presented in 2000 at The Millennium Dome in London, United Kingdom. From then onwards, the awards are held at locations around the world signifying the international success of Bollywood. Since 2000, the event has expanded from a one-night event to a three-day celebration, hosting various events and activities relating to the Indian film industry.[2]

These awards honour films from the previous calendar year. Salman Khan has been the Brand Ambassador of the IIFA since its inception in 2000, five special awards were introduced: Star of the Decade (Male and Female), Movie of the Decade, Music of the Decade, and Director of the Decade.[3]

In recent years, the airport has organized airport operations, security and VIP arrivals for several high profile events including the Republican National Convention and the Super Bowl, but nothing compares to the large scale starpower and fan interaction associated with the IIFA awards.

The barricades and stanchions were put in place as part of a well-orchestrated plan by the Airport Police Department to protect the VIPs as they walked the green carpet while allowing the enthusiastic crowds to see the stars.

Twitter was a huge part of the experience, with Bollywood watchers across the world sharing pictures of the stars at Tampa International Airport. The airport Twitter account picked up more than 500 new followers as the airport released updates on celebrity arrivals and the hashtag #IIFATampaBay received over 1 million impressions during the event.

The excitement was palpable even via the far reaches of Instagram. The International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Awards took place in Abu Dhabi this past weekend and for Bollywood aficionados across the world, it was an all-out celeb fest. There was music, dance and a dazzling red carpet featuring Bollywood A-listers and then some.

Now, the awards were back with a show in Abu Dhabi and so was their team of official stylists headed by Nabila. A deluge of Insta stories showed the stylist and her small army of hair and makeup experts rushing about backstage, making videos of the red carpet and taking the occasional selfie. There was famed Indian director Farah Khan declaring Nabila and her team "fantastic", Lara Bhupati declaring that she felt "like a million bucks" and Arjun Rampal getting groomed by some of the stylists. Styled by N. Gents posted an Insta story showing Bobby Deol swaggering on the red carpet.

According to Nabila, her team was divided into three different segments. One group catered to the celebrities who did not want to come down to the salon and got their hair and makeup done in their rooms. The second and the busiest team worked in the salon while the third worked backstage on the models, dancers and performers.

It seems that there were many more people who loved the efficient, fashion-forward Nabila ethos. There have been times in the past too when Nabila has made waves internationally but a ceremony as widely followed as the IIFAs places her squarely in the spotlight. Global heavyweight MAC was the official IIFA styling partner for 16 years and it is no small feat for Nabila to have replaced such a major player, placing her logo in places where it is clearly visible in a slew of IIFA backstage images.
