Hello!

I want to have the xfce-panel instead of the mode-line and I want it at the bottom of the screen. As long as xfce-panel is active it reserves space at the top of the screen. But the reserved space is at the top regardless of where I move the panel. The variable *mode-line-position* does nothing.

Is there anything that can be done about this?

Hello,

The following line works for me:
,----
| (setf *mode-line-position* :bottom)
`----

The catch is the mode-line needs to be activated *after* setting its
position, otherwise it seems it won’t move dynamically. If I set the
variable while the mode-line is active, I need to de-activate then
re-activate it.

Cheers!

Hello again.

I have still not figured out how to solve this. I just came back to this issue after looking into it again.

I saw on the archive that someone responded to my last message but I did not receive it.

I played around a bit with trying to setting *mode-Line-Position* and turning on and off (mode-line) to no avail.
