Startup hang following Manjaro update

I've just updated Manjaro and stumpwm no longer starts for me. This is
what gets written to my log file:

ASDF could not load stumpwm because

Phil,

I had the same problem on FreeBSD. Downgrade your SBCL to 2.2.2.

There's a git version of Stump which works with the new one, but I
couldn't get it working either.

You saint, you hero, you genius!

I actually downgraded to 2.2.5 (from 2.2.8).

That was a nasty half-hour of trying to get around in XFCE4 like a
caveman. I've forgotten how. You saved me! Thank you.
