Dear Undergroundians!

First off, thanks to all who attending our "City Folk" release party last night, it was a total blast! A big extra huge thanks goes to Pollyanne Birge to helping organize for City Hall to host us and to Janessa for serving the beer donated by Widmer.

Our next piece of news is that we're having a button design contest! Stumptown Underground is revving up for Stumptown Comics Fest (where we will be tabling, by the way) in just a few short weeks and we'd like to be able to sell a variety of buttons to help fund raise for our publications and spread the word about Stumptown Underground. How can this involve you and your artistic talent? Well, we're so glad you asked! We plan to use some previous issues' covers as some of our buttons art, but we'd like to give all SU contributors and supporters a chance to get involved.

Here's what you do:

- Dream up a design you think would solidly represent Stumptown Underground. It should fit in this template

- When you finish you design you can either send it as 1.3" x 1.3" and 300 dpi. If you would like a more detailed template that you can open with layers, which you might need for things like writing on the edge of the button, we can e-mail you that template instead.

- The file format should be .tif, .jpg, .gif, or .pdf.

- Keep in mind that the inner circle is just for your design purposes to let you know what will show up on the face of the button. 1/4 inch around the button will curve over and be tucked into the back. The inner circle is not needed, only the outer circle is needed to know where to cut the artwork out. Please cover up the inner circle, images actually looks best when they carry over into the bleed and tuck into the back of the button. The outer edge is needed so that it is evident where to cut the image out.

The deadline for button design submissions is April 12th. Send your button design submissions to stumptownu...@gmail.com.

The top design will be put on buttons from Small World Buttons by Alex Wrekk, will represent Stumptown Underground!

What do you get, if you are the winner? The winning artist of the design will receive 10 buttons with their design and an issue of SU of their choice. The winner will be announced by April 19th.

Look for Stumptown Underground's at Stumptown Comics Fest April 24th and 25th. We'll have the new buttons, all the issues to date, and more!

Stay Solid,
Blue
