No, you don't have to hate Stumbleupon to post here, or even have
eBay, nor does it help if you do. Some of my old Statistics professors
would probably want me to say something about the dangers of drawing
extrapolations from sample sizes of one, but ... no, just not in the
mood. While I certainly dislike a number of users on Stumbleupon, I
don't dislike the service. Nor do I like it. I'm still making up my
mind about it.

This isn't just a group for posting complaints, although those are
welcome. It is also a group for talking about what you're doing with
your site, Stumbleupon sites that you liked, which you didn't like,
suggestions about service improvements that can be posted in a place
where the netloons and the trolls aren't making the rules. It's a
place where you can ask for suggestions of how to improve your site,
or discuss articles that you saw there.

Anything and everything related to Stumbleupon is on topic here,
within reason - and I'm sure you've seen the link to the page of
rules, so you probably know what "reason" means in this context.

.
As the description says at present, this is "a group for discussion of
said social networking sites and everything that takes place on them,
serious or otherwise. The otherwise part may prove to be the most
problematic, because for satire to work, there has to be a reality to
break and an expectation of reasonability. "A Modest Proposal" works,
in part, because we know that Swift isn't really in favor of having
the Irish sell their children for meat, but one can find netizens by
the truckload who will seriously and passionately argue in support of
the legalization of the making of snuff films. No matter how crazy
something may be, one can find somebody arguing for something crazier,
in dead seriousness. So, if you find yourself thinking "how could they
think I was serious" - this may be why.

There might be something to be said for keeping your satire on your
website, where those who are reading your writing get a clearer
picture of who you are than a few soundbites on a newsgroup can offer,
and linking to it from here, or at least establishing a presence here
and letting people get to know you before the comedy begins.
