Architecturalobjects have a relationship to one another and interact with each other intelligently. For example, a window has a relationship to the wall that contains it. If you move or delete the wall, the window reacts accordingly. Objects can be represented in both 2D and 3D.

In addition, intelligent architectural objects maintain dynamic links with construction documents and specifications, resulting in more accurate project deliverables. When someone deletes or modifies a door, for example, the door schedule can be automatically updated. Do you mean which service pack for XP? I can't really answer your question but XP is not supported by microsoft any more so you are going to have find service packs on the internet somewhere. I'm sure people have copies of them somewhere, but still a pain.

A service pack is a patch that they add into windows XP to fix broken things. I thought that was what you where asking. As the other guy said no one is going to be able to tell you which 10 year old computer to buy that will run 13 year old software. My suggestion is that if you don't want to update your 2005 version then just buy an old laptop or desktop off of ebay that still has XP on it. Probably find one for 200 or less dollars. I wouldn't pay more than that for something with XP still on it unless it was really really nice Just get one that has better graphics card in it like maybe a gaming laptop.

My city has a goodwill computer store not sure if they are every where. They have tons of old computer like that too. They sometimes want too much, but it's worth checking out. You can also try craigslist. Craigslist can be hard to compare stuff though as some people offer good deals and others want 10 times what something is worth. If you aren't in a super hurry I'd go ebay and craigslist route and just look every couple days on them to search new things. I've seen decent laptops on craigslist for $75 that are the age you need. If it doesn't work better than your mac then you're only out 75.

It can be a little diffictul to follow all the steps to get the XP mode installed and working, so be patient and be prepared to search google for more info. Once installed, you can operate AutoCad 2002 ADT3.3 from a virtual XP platform right on your desktop....AWESOME!!! You will have to find your CAD files on your harddrive and save them to a shortcut to the XP virtual desktop.

I'm retired, doing architectural designs. I use autodesk architectural desktop 3.3 to model my projects. I get a fatel error message when loading, twice. It validates in the beginning of the loading and proceeds.

I'm wondering if there are any architectural frameworks out there to create desktop or standalone applications, in Java or C# for instance. It seems that there are tons of them available for web applications but I can't find many good resources on frameworks or architectural best-practices for desktop development.

There's a new .NET architectural guidance package from Microsoft patterns & practices for WPF that is code named "Prism" -- it's basically a "next generation" Composite UI Application Block (without the SCSF tooling). It uses Dependency injection, Composite pattern throughout, etc.

You can use some of the same approaches in client development that you use in web development, such as Model View Presenter. The System.Windows.Forms namespace has everything you need to build a client application in C#, with the rest of the .NET Framework available to provide the services you need (such as IO and remoting).

Our friends here working on client applications develop their software to the Model View Presenter design pattern that is often associated with Web Development. For them they find it works very well, I believe it may be worth checking out.

Specifically to organized presentation framework of ui functions we have been using infonode docking windows, that's a windowing framework using an eclipse like appearance (drag views anywhere, close them, undock them etc., skinnable of course). there's a gpl version for open source products out, altough afaik the developer licence is not that expensive ($299 each).

HI. I am trying to connect Sage 50 Canada to the online services. I have figured out that I need 32 bit Power BI desktop in order to create a succesful connection between Power BI desktop and the ODBC connection for Sage 50 CA, which is in 32 bit. Everything works well until I publish it to the online service where it gives me an ODBC credential error. I fear this has to do with 64bit vs 32bit. Can anyone point me to a solution, I have tried to put credetional strings into the data source settings.

I had the same problems (same errors) when I had the power BI desktop 64 bit installed. I fear the personal gateway is trying to talk to my ODBC connection in 64 bit language, do you think my assumption is right?

Can someone recommend I solution wihout having to setup a 64 ODBC DSN and reinstall the 64bit version of Power BI. I want to stick to 32bit everything. There's no way to refresh my report online and that's quite sad. This is what I get when I try to add a new data source in my online workspace:

In your scenario, after you publish the report to Power BI Service and it prompts you ODBC credential error, the issue is caused that the data source credential is not configured when you use personal gateway. You need to go to Settings->Datasets->Data source credentials to enter valid credential.

Unfortunately I cannot create a 64bit to the Sage 50 CA database. There is some architecture there which I am not knowledgable enough about to get around. So basically, I can get Sage 50 CA to work nicely with Power BI desktop 32 bit installation, and the two can talk nicely. Its the online services working through the 64 bit gateway that messes me up.

I am trying to setup my Gateway for on-premise to connect via ODBC. My Progress database uses 32-bit ODBC drivers and I have the 32-bit version of Power BI Desktop installed on my server. I have discovered problems trying to setup the ODBC data source with my connection string not being accepted showing error 'The 'Driver' property with value doesn't correspond to an installed ODBC driver. DataSource.MissingClientLibrary'

I am having the same issue (32 bit ODBC Driver works perfectly with 32 Power BI Desktop) but fails when trying to migrate into Power BI online service. It gives me the same credential error despite entering the correct credentials for the datasource.

I am encountering the same issue for my database as well. Took awhile to figure out that my ODBC driver was 32 bit and that I needed the 32 bit version of Power BI. With that resolved, I am able pull data from my database via the ODBC Driver into Power BI desktop very easily. However, as I move into from Power BI desktop into the Power BI online service, I can no longer refresh my dataset as it gives me a credential error despite entering the correct credentials for the datasource.
