Question:
Why do you desire to be in student ministry leadership?

Response:
I started working with student ministry simply because our daughter started Fishy.

I desire to continuing supporting and working with student ministry primarily because during the past three years in this ministry, I've come to believe that the middle and high school years may be the most opportune time in a person's life to share the gospel and introduce the idea of a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

My secondary reasons for supporting student ministry are many; first, our two daughters, Lindsay and Hannah, are currently in 5th and 9th grade. As a stay-at-home mom, I've chosen to use my free time to volunteer in our girls' schools, sports, and areas of ministry. Helping in this way allows me to be involved in their lives, get to know their friends, their friends' parents and build community within our family, church and school.

Second, I feel called by God to use the gifts He's given me. Working with student ministry allows me to use my gifts of encouragement, organization and helps to His glory.  Like other places or events where I get to use my gifts, the "work" is easy and filled with joy. Which is a clear message to me that I am where I'm supposed to be.

Third, it was in middle school and again in high school where I had my first "God encounters" at church camps. However, because I didn't have anyone in my life that was a believer, I didn't know what to do with the little information I'd been given about faith and God's love. So the tug I felt in my heart to pursue this path, this God, eventually faded. Twenty years passed before I finally felt that tug again. I'm sure it's part of some plan, and I wouldn't want to change where I am now, but I do have regret and a sadness that I missed out on twenty plus years of walking with Him.

I wonder what could have been had I been in a small group, like those in Fishy, with a Godly leader loving on me and answering my questions about that tug on my heart.

I believe in the the way Fishy and Club leads kids to The Lord and therefore want to support the administration and leaders any way I can.
