I have worked diligently identifying my fears and seeing the ways in which they play out in my life and my relationships with people. Fear invades every area of my life and drives my actions and decisions in my parenting, marriage, friendships, family relationships, health, and body image, just to name a few.  But this is the first time that I’ve seen these fears in the context of my beliefs about who God is and my relationship with Him.  I’ve realized that I do not believe God is TRUSTWORTHY and so I try to maintain control over all of the things in my life that I know I cannot really control.  This leaves me afraid…all the time.

I found comfort this week in the following passages of scripture:

Psalm 112:7

The righteous “do not fear bad news; they confidently trust the Lord to care for them.  They are CONFIDENT and FEARLESS.”

Psalm 27:3

“Though a mighty army surrounds me, my heart will not be AFRAID.  Even if I am attacked, I will remain CONFIDENT.”

I desire a life of CONFIDENCE and FEARLESSNESS!  I hear the Lord saying to me, “You’ve done your therapy work.  You’ve identified all these things that make you feel afraid and what specific memories bring these fears up in you.  This has been good.  But I am asking you to mature and to step out in your faith and begin to trust ME instead.”

I am grateful for the past 2 weeks to be able to process all of this.
