Anyone have a file with conference records by team & year going back a few years? Obviously overall record is easy to come by, but conference record is a little tougher.

ESPN actually shows this, though in a somewhat difficult to parse format, see http://espn.go.com/college-football/standings (and then you can select years going back a ways).

If you copy it to excel you'll get something like:

ACC Standings
ATLANTIC CONF OVERALL
Florida State 1-Jul 2-Dec
Clemson 1-Jul 2-Nov
North Carolina State 4-Apr 6-Jul
Wake Forest 5-Mar 7-May
Maryland 6-Feb 8-Apr
Boston College 7-Jan 10-Feb

which is a bit annoying, but you should be able to parse the logic pretty easily ("day" = # losses, "month" = #wins, then spot-check for errors)

Try Chris Stassen's site. (Link) It allows you to group teams together and generate an all-time conference record for each school. For example, this link contains all-time conference records for each current SEC member during college football's modern era.

Also, you don't have to import records as dates. There are two easy ways around this in Excel that I know of:

1) You can import a table in Excel. Go to data and import a table from the web. Go to options and select disable date recognition. Then use the text to columns feature (use delimited in this case) to parse the data after importing the table.

2) Before pasting the records into Excel, select text instead of a general number format in the cells where the records will be posted. Once again, use the text to columns feature to parse the data.

There are probably other ways to do this. I hope this post helps you guys.
