Now that it's the offseason, I thought it might be useful to see what kind of data people are looking for, since there's a decent chance some of us have or know of data that others are missing.  My current personal wish list:
  • Injury data - http://www.collegeinjuryreport.com/ has data but it's really not in a good format.  The key issue is that on their weekly reports (ex: http://www.collegeinjuryreport.com/cfb/2012-week10-injury-report.php ) they'll list an injury once on a given week and then not follow up with anything about how long it'll last, so if it says "Out" you never know if it's going to be for one week or a month (ex: on that page, Air Force still shows "Out" for Jason Kons due to a 09/25 mono incident, even though the list is supposed to be for early November and he'd come back in mid October - http://gazetteafasports.freedomblogging.com/2012/10/06/kons-is-playing-for-air-force/16235/ ).  A decent chunk of injuries are "Out for Year" so I'm able to do something with those, but the rest is much tougher.  My hope is to be able to replicate the stuff Phil Steele does for injury starts lost (ex: http://philsteele.com/Blogs/2012/July12/DBJuly3.html ) but going back further than he does it as well as possibly being able to study things like whether certain positions (QB an obvious example) have more of an impact than others
  • Coordinator changes by year - it's easy to find lists of head coach changes by year - http://collegefootballpoll.com/coaching_changes.html is one example - but I don't know of anything similar for OC/DC positions. I don't know if it's actually important, but I'd be interested in looking at historical data for coordinators to see if there's anything useful to be gotten
  • 2013 projected rosters - I'm hoping to be able to calculate out returning production (yards, tackles etc) as well as possibly lettermen and other items.  Projections for numbers of returning starters isn't at all hard to find, but it has been difficult to get data in more depth than that, at least so far
  • Recruiting data - so far I've just been using scout.com recruiting data (ex: http://cfn.scout.com/a.z?s=451&p=9&c=14&yr=2009 ) which is OK, but I'm hoping to at least supplement it with at least one other source that goes back to at least 2005-6 and hopefully earlier.  I'm also hoping to get some juco recruiting data, since I'm 80% sure that scout either doesn't track them at all in their numbers or just discounts them heavily.

For non-head coaches the only resource I know of is here:

http://collegefootball.rivals.com/CoachIndex.asp

Note: the Air Force entries are screwed up bigtime for a number of years. Most if I recall.

Thanks for the link (though it'll suck trying to actually compile it).  Does anyone here have interest in seeing a data table of coaches by school by year? And if so, would anyone be interested in trading off teams/leagues (since 60 of these is 1/2 the work for me that 120 would be).

Not sure if this will help, but we've got a good list of coaches, incl asst coaches, here:

http://www.cfbreference.com/coaches/

i.e.

http://www.cfbreference.com/coaches/detail/195-nick-saban/

Would love to hear about anything else we can publish.
