New romance competition! Modern Stories: It Must Be Love
We've teamed up with Headline Eternal to find exciting new voices in romantic fiction from writers from Black, Asian, mixed heritage and/or multiple ethnic backgrounds, in association with Hachette UK’s The Future Bookshelf. Submit the first 5,000 words of a novel-in-progress and a synopsis to be in with a chance of winning a variety of writing support prizes. Enter by 14 Apr.
The winner will receive a £1,000 cash prize, a place on our flagship three-month online Writing Your Novel course, two editorial mentoring sessions with a Headline Eternal editor, an introductory meeting with Curtis Brown literary agent Sheila Crowley and a hamper of Headline Eternal romance books.
The competition welcomes romantic fiction across genres, including romantic comedy, romantic drama and romantasy. The novel must be for adults and fit into the category of commercial fiction i.e. a compelling plot, memorable characters, snappy dialogue and, of course, no shortage of romance. Novels do not have to be finished; judges are looking for brilliant voices, strong concepts and a compelling romance that takes centre stage.
If this opportunity isn't quite right for you, please help us spread that word! (Plus you can find out more about all the prizes and free opportunities we're currently running for writers here.)
