The Decoration of Absence | Traces of a Silent North
James Hughes
30 May - 27 June

Join us for the launch and an artist tour on Saturday 30 May, 12noon–1.30pm | All Welcome

This selection of work by NI photographer, James Hughes brings Northern Irish interiors and objects to the fore to reread the present and in a way, to understand our recent past. In interiors devoid of people, the ethereal decoration of absence in James Hughes’ images reflect the loss as well as the positive remains of people’s lives. The unstaged interiors quietly speak of cherished lives which together with faith and hope, have nurtured human experiences for centuries. The simple and essential things of culture where we recognise our identity with a sense of awe and enthusiasm.
